Omg! Chinese Vlogger Nearly Died After Mistakenly Eating Poisonous Plant Live On Camera

#1 A 26-year-old woman identified only as Zhang has established herself as a video blogger or vlogger.

#2 She often goes live when she demonstrates something or tries something new.

In her latest live video session, Zhang was discussing the benefits of aloe vera.

#3 The live show has been recorded and circulated on the internet by various Chinese websites, including qq.com.

#4 She claimed the leaves were aloe vera, and that there was no better way to reap the plant’s benefits than by eating the thick, fresh leaves.

#5 But her Aloe Vera Feast – as her channel’s stream was titled – turned very bad, very fast, as she instead ate the leaves of another plant called the Agave Americana.

#6 The poisonous desert plant from America, which resembles aloe vera, is sold in China as an ornament.

#7 At the beginning of the video, Ms. Zhang is heard saying 'yum' and 'this is great'.

But soon afterward, things took a turn and she realized there was a problem.

"That's bitter... that's really bitter,' she said as the clip progressed."

#8 According to Cornell University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the Agave Americana has 'several toxic compounds.

"It contains the incredibly irritating calcium oxalate raphides (microscopic daggers of crystalline oxalate) as well as some other really irritating oils in the sap," they explain.

The aspiring vlogger's mouth then went numb and her throat felt as though it was on 'fire'. She cut off the live stream and went to the hospital.

#10 Doctors found that she had also been suffering from severe rashes and blisters and later pumped her stomach to remove the harmful substances from her evidence.

#11 The doctors also said that she was lucky to have gone to the hospital quickly enough, otherwise, the consequences could be serious, according to Chinese newspaper Chongqing Times.
