#1 A thread dedicated to pictures of sleeping owls only.
If it wasnt for the Internet, we wouldn't probably know that the owls sleep in the most adorable face down positions. Journalist Mark Rees is responsible for arguably the most successful sleeping owl PR campaign. A picture he tweeted of a sleeping owl has received likes int thousands by now. Mark's pictures have successfully started a thread on all social media platforms where people all posting pictures of owls sleeping in the most adorable face down positions and after looking at these, one can never get over these adorable poses.
#2 Go away... I'm trying to sleep here.
After hearing Mark's explanation about young owls sleeping we couldn't help but wonder. The National Audubon Society, a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to conservation, for example, published a heartwarming story about two Barred Owlets who had fallen out of their nest. After the babies were put back into the tree, their rescuers observed how they were recovering.
"Keeping their talons tightly gripped on a branch, the owlets lay down on their stomachs, turned their heads to the side, and fell asleep. Their naps are short, and when they are asleep, they do not like to be awakened, even to be fed," the article said.
##3 Sweet dreams.
#NationalNappingDay: juvenile snow owls often sleep face down on the ground because the weight of their heads means they can't sleep when perched.

This one, pictured in a Japanese wildlife park in 2017, may look like an ex-owl but he is only having a nap. HE IS NOT A DRUNK OWL!! pic.twitter.com/7Df8bJBH9M
#5 Mood in lockdown.
One interesting fact about baby owls is that they do not fall out of the tree while it snoozes because it holds onto the branch with its back toe, the hallux. "The hallux will not open or let go until the bird bends its leg."
