According to a 500-year-old doomsday prediction, the world as we know it will soon come to an end. If you've been following the news for the last few years, you've more than likely heard about at least one prediction from a religious group regarding the end of the world. Some of these groups are so confident in their doomsday predictions that they even put timestamps on the end of days. Of course, as evidenced by the fact that we're still here, these predictions haven't come to pass. Still, that hasn't stopped religious groups from continuing to make claims about when and how the world will end. The latest guess about the end of the world? We'll all die on August 21, 2017.
Philosopher Predicted The End Of The World If It Snowed Here Twice (And It Just Did)
#1 It Finally Happened
Two days of consecutive snow in Salento, Italy, is a sure sign of the end of the world according to a prophecy from the “Italian Nostradamus”.
#2 Philosopher Matteo Tafuri Predicted Armageddon
Matteo Tafuri, who lived between 1492 and 1582, warned centuries ago that two days of consecutive snow in the resort town of Salento, Italy would lead to Armageddon. And it just happened!
He said: “Salento of palm trees and mild south wind, snowy Salento but never after the touch. Two days of snow, two flashes in the sky, I know the world ends, but I do not yearn.” He said that within 280 days of the two consecutive snowfalls there would be two unknown flashes in the sky that destroy the earth.
#3 Snow Fell Two Days In A Row And Virgin Mary Cried
Snow has blanketed some parts of southern Italy this week and some superstitious observers now believe Tafuri’s predictions will soon come true. This newest revelation comes just days after a painting of the Virgin Mary in Macedonia was spotted crying REAL tears, a spectacle which has also been linked to the end of the world.
Witnesses said that the tears were first spotted on New Year's Day, exactly a week before Orthodox Christmas which is celebrated on January 7. The same day the first snow began to fall on the Mediterranean resort of Salento. Religious followers are frightened.
#4 Snow Covered The Resort Town And Beaches
Tafuri's prediction earned him the nickname of the Italian Nostradamus and was made more than 500 years ago, and since then, it has not snowed twice in a row in Salento...until now.
Incredible pictures from Salento show its beaches completely covered in snow, including the cacti that live in this typically mild climate. The beaches, once covered in white sands, were covered in 8 inches of white snow instead.
#5 Weather Never Seen Before But Does It Spell The End Of Days
The unusually heavy snowfall has been linked to deaths across Europe where temperatures are currently sub-freezing. Vulnerable populations like the homeless are at risk. Several people have died already from the freezing temperatures in the entire region. But did Tafuri actually predict this?
Tafuri was a lover of Greek and Latin literature, a physician, and skilled astrologer. After traveling to England, he was jailed after being suspected of Lutheranism, which was a crime then. He also 'indulged in some misguided prophecies, predicting the imminent death of Charles V,'resulting in him being sent back to Italy.
#6 The People Are Frightened
While the people of Southern Italy and Salento are amazed at the snow and freezing temperature, something they have never seen in their lifetime, they are also curious about the 500-year-old prediction, especially since so many other things out of the ordinary are happening in the world.
#7 Church Leaders Predicted The End Of Days When The Solar Eclipse Begins In August
Many point to a similar prediction made by the religious leaders in the area who say that doom will occur when the moon eclipses the sun, which is going to be in August, falling into the 280 days after the two snowfalls that Matteo Tafuri predicted.
#8 First Solar Eclipse In 40 Years
According to NASA, the next scheduled solar eclipse will occur on August 21, 2017. It will actually be the first solar eclipse in America in almost 40 years. As you might have guessed by now, this eclipse has Revelation literalists worried that it will bring about the end of the world.
#9 The Flashes Are Described As Nuclear Missles
The two flashes predicted within 280 days? Theorists are claiming that a nuclear war will begin on the day of the solar eclipse between two super powers, which is actually how the world will meet its demise. Nostradamus himself predicted a nuclear war, or fireballs hitting the planet, in the year 2017, which is why so many people are believing the predictions.
#10 Revelation Literalists Worried That It Will Bring About The End Of The World
Most predictions of doomsday are taken from the Book Of Revelations in the Bible, and some are interpreted in so many different ways that it's difficult to decipher what is actually supposed to happen. Add that to the numerous cults and conspiracy theorists, and predictors of the future, and it can become an overload of stress.
So should we start stockpiling our doomsday bunkers now? Probably not. Again, these doomsday theorists don't have a very good track record. I'm assuming that August 21, 2017, will be a pretty ordinary day.
