This Texas plumber was called to Lakewood Church to fix a plumbing issue in the toilet only to stumble upon hoards of cash and checks hidden neatly inside the toilet. Surprised and happy, the man reported the money immediately to Crimestoppers Joel Osteen only to receive a lukewarm response in return. According to the man, he has been denied his reward moment of $25,000 as the organization says that the reward money was for catching the thief and not only finding the stolen money.

A few years back in 2014, Joel Osteen announced that his church has been robbed off with $600,000 stolen.

Osteen, along with crime-fighting organization Crimestoppers, even announced a tempting offer of prize money of around $25,000 for anyone who would help recover the stolen money.

Now almost 8 years later, it seems like the mystery has been solved by a plumber.

This plumber was called to Lakewood Chruch to fix a plumbing issue in the washroom and what he discovered next was enough to leave him speechless.

As the man worked on fixing the bathroom, he stumbled upon envelopes with money stashed inside in the wall behind the toilet. Envelopes not only contained huge amounts of money but also checks.

He said:

"There was a loose toilet in the wall, and we removed the tile."
“We went to go remove the toilet, and I moved some insulation away and about 500 envelopes fell out of the wall, and I was like ‘Oh wow!’”
“I went ahead and contacted the maintenance supervisor that was there, and I turned it all in."

The surprised plumber immediately reported the hidden money to the authorities, however, unlike he expected both Osteen and the Crimestoppers organization aren't as responsive as you'd think.

In fact, the man says that Crimestoppers blatantly refused to give him his $25,000 reward simply stating that their reward was only valid for information leading to the culprit's arrest rather than recovering the money. On top of that, Osteen hasn't even given the plumber so much as a "thank you."

Twitter was not really surprised by the news and almost everyone knows that despite being a pastor, Osteen is far from generous.

As a matter of fact, Osteen runs his church under the "prosperity gospel," meaning he pushes his parishioners to donate as much money as possible, promising them better heavenly "rewards" in the afterlife the more money they give to his church.

As if this was not enough, Osteen also faced huge criticism back in 2017 after refusing to open Lakewood's doors for people fleeing from the mass flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey.

It was only after the backlash and heavy criticism, the man begrudgingly agreed to open his church doors to the people in need.

Osteen, who claims to be an evangelist, is also violently opposed to LGBTQ+ rights and has expressed homophobic views more than once.

In an interview with CNN in 2011, he said:

“Homosexuality is a sin—I believed it before, and I still believe it now."
