She had fallen in love with a person named Frank who didn’t meet the approval of her rich household.
Pregnant Teen Is Locked In Mental Ward By Her Parents, Years Later She Gets Justice
Her parent’s expected their beautiful blonde daughter to marry a rich man.
She fell 'madly' in love with a young Jewish boy from the Bronx in New York City, called Frank von Zernceck. But she did not meet the approval of her parents.
In 1963, Julie Mannix’s parents wanted her to terminate her unexpected pregnancy.
And when she refused, they put the pregnant girl into a mental ward and took her baby away.
On April 19, 1964, Julie gave birth to baby Aimee.
She was allowed to see her for a few brief moments before having to sign adoption papers and leave Aimee behind.
Julie tried contacting Catholic Charities for updates on Aimee over time, however, was informed her information have been sealed.
She hoped and prayed that Aimee had ended up with a good family.
She recalls:
"As I signed the adoption papers, my heart ripped apart. I put down the pen, turned away, and, on shaky legs, I left my baby behind."
Julie left the mental hospital and continued to defy their wishes. She moved to New York City and became an actress.
She and Frank fell got married in 1965. The reunited couple celebrated Aimee’s birthday every year on April 19 and have been collectively ever since.
So where was Aimee?
It turns out that she had been adopted by a very good family, and had been given the name Kathleen Marie Wisler. Tragically, her adoptive mom died when she was just 6 years old. A few years later she also lost her adoptive dad.
It wasn’t until Kathy was grown and had her own children that the desire to find her biological parents took root.
She requested her background information from the agency that handled her adoption and began looking.
After a quick search online, Kathy discovered the New York Times obituary for Daniel Pratt Mannix IV, her biological grandfather, who’d died in 1997.
From that, she learned that he had a daughter, named Julie.
Kathleen was suddenly staring at a blonde-haired, blue-eyed actress with an acting career dating back to the 1960s.
The page also revealed that Julie married a TV producer named Frank the year after she was born.
Kathleen wrote Frank and Julie a letter — which led to weekly Skype conversations between the reconnected household.
Despite her parents’ cruel efforts to keep them separated over 40 years ago, Julie, Frank, and Kathleen feel like they’ve never been apart.
