An American social media star showed up at the Golden Globes wearing a see-through dress that showed off her slinky underwear, bringing the provocative style to the red carpet.

People were quick to comment on Liza Koshy's unique Victorian lace and antique beaded gown, which was created by Morphew Atelier.

One person commented on Twitter: "I like the outfit but the thong [G-string] kinda ruins it for me."

And another added: "The exposed underwear isn’t a good trend."

At the Met Gala, Hailey Bieber joined the trend by wearing an open-back pink dress with a glittery thong.

Rita Ora went even further by donning a dress that was totally transparent.

The singer looked sexy in the thin dress that exposed her underwear when she visited The Fashion Awards at the Royal Albert Hall last year.

While the craze is divisive, some are glad it's made a comeback. On Twitter, one fashionista gushed: "This is the new version of the whale tail trend and I'm so obsessed. YES, peeking thongs rise."
