The Blob Fish found in the deep waters of Australia and Tasmania
If you are a fan of the old horror movie classic ’The Blob Monster’ then you will love this fish just as much! Voted as the ugliest fish in the world, the Blob Fish has been officially declared as the face of the Ugly Animal Preservation Society earlier this year.
Found off the coast of the deeper parts of the sea around 2000-3900 ft. of Australian and Tasmanian waters, it is a very rare sight to behold. They grow to around a foot in length.
The texture of its skin is like a gelatinous mass of jelly and is of a milky white hue. Crabs and sea pens are a staple diet for the Blob Fish. Strangely, according to the NOAA, no one has ever really seen it eat.
The Blob Fish has a short life span ranging from 1-2 years and quite sadly is now in danger of extinction due to deep-sea fishing and bottom trawling.
