Serious Design Flaws In Everyday Products That Really Make Us Angry

#1 Lamps With Switches On The Cord

Stupid idea. Period. They put the switch on the cord of a lamp instead of on the lamp itself, making it impossible to turn off the lamp without hunting for the cord you tried to hide behind furniture or the carpet.

#2 Rectangular Shopping Baskets With The Handle Crossing The Width

A very poor design, as many of you may have already realized if you've ever toted one of these baskets around a store before. This means that you either have to twist your arm or hold the basket away from your body. It would make much more sense to have the handle go length-wise. Then you could actually hold the basket normally.

#3 The Button On Top Of Baseball Caps

They look cute but serve no real purpose except to add a touch of color. However, if you bump your head, they hurt, and the button makes it almost impossible to wear headphones with the cap on.

#4 The Location Of The Steering Wheel In Cars

Many countries have the steering wheel on the right side of the car, while some, like the US, have it on the lefty side. Neither one is the proper place for the wheel, which should be in the middle of the car. Having the driver’s seat in the middle would drastically decrease the likelihood of people having blind spots on the road. Also, it would avoid that hump on the floor making it difficult to stretch out your leg.

#5 Touch Screens In Cars

Newer cars have touch screens that control almost everything. This eliminates the buttons and knobs that were strategically placed on the dashboard. The problem is that the screen is in the middle of the dash and you must take your eyes off the road to control the radio, phone, wipers, and even the air.

#6 Sticker Glue That Is Stronger Than The Sticker

This is very annoying. You buy an item, maybe ceramic or glass and the stickers are impossible to remove because the glue is heavy duty. This is really upsetting when you buy a gift on the fly and try to wrap or bag it on the way to the party you are running late for.

#7 Blinds With A Cord On Each Side

Seriously folks, who has ever wanted their blinds at an angle? Just have one cord that pulls the blinds up in their entirety so you don’t have to struggle with two cords at once. The two cords make it difficult to straighten out the blinds and it makes no sense.

#8 Women's Pants With No Pockets

Once upon a time some idiot designed jeans for women and thought that since they carried purses, they needed no pockets. Unhappy with that, they then created fake pockets that don't actually open. They're just designed to look like pockets. Crazy!

#9 The Line Left By The Dustpan

Apparently, they fixed this problem by inventing something else…the vacuum cleaner.

#10 Wine Glasses

What's the hardest stain to get out of clothing and carpeting? WINE. So why were wine glasses designed with an elevated center of gravity, a small base, and a very fragile mid-section? This makes spills much more likely. Of course, you could use a jelly jar and get the same drunk as you would with this flippy glass.

#11 Motion Sensors On Hand Cleaner Pumps

So they have these motion sensors of soap and hand sanitizer dispensers so that you don't have to get icky germs when leaving the bathroom. It would be better to put a motion sensor on the door so that you don’t have to touch the handle when you’re walking out of the bathroom. Or even better, all bathroom doors should open outwards so you don't have to touch them.

#12 Glass Ketchup Bottles

Or is it catsup? In any event, why are they still making glass bottles for condiments? It makes it impossible to get the full use of the product and with plastic, you can squeeze out every last drop and get your money's worth.

#13 Stovetops That Don't Give Exact Temperatures

This is a big annoyance. They provide numbers instead of temps or they have 'high, medium, low'. Do you cook your soup at #3 or #5? Low or medium? Nobody knows. A thermometer of some sort would be useful and help with preparing foods at the right temperatures.

#14 Stickers On Fruit

An age old problem that still hasn't been solved. The stickers don't come off easily and it's an extra step to eating a nice ripe apple. Why not put the code on a stem sticker?

#15 Modern Toilets

In the Western countries, we are lucky to have indoor facilities, since many people still live without this age old convenience. However, the modern toilet is designed totally wrong. Human beings are actually designed to poop in a squatting position. This is why some experts suggest pooping with your feet on a stool.

#16 Tide Pods

And any other detergent that comes in a colorful little bite sized packet... To adults, they look cool, but to kids, they look like candy. And that is not healthy for the kids and could be deadly!

#17 Nail Clippers

One of my biggest pet peeves. Someone needs to upgrade this design or come out with a better nail clipper. So what's the problem with them you ask? When you clip your nails, the clippings fly all over the place like arrows. Besides that, they are constructed like a Swiss Army Knife.

#18 Micro USB Ports

Why was there a need for these? They pop out constantly and with just a little nudge on the wire, the port can break off. USB-C tries to fix these issues, but unfortunately, it’s taking some time to catch on. If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it!

#19 US Bank Notes All Being The Same Size

One of the greatest design flaws ever, money all being the same size and weight is a sore spot for the Association For The Blind. The sizes all being the same makes it impossible for blind people to differentiate them. There are some countries that have various sizes and some have bills with Braille on them.

#20 Toilet Flushing Handles

There are some automatic flushing toilets out there but in reality, you must flush 99% of all toilets with your hands. Why can't they make these with foot pedals to flush instead? It would be much more sanitary and convenient.
