Lynea Lattanzio allows the cats to run freely through her home
She runs Cat House on the Kings, California's largest no-cage, no-kill sanctuary for feral and abandoned cats
Lynea admits she is an 'eccentric cat lady' and has lived with 28,000 cats in 24 years
Even her trailer is not an animal free zone as she has let 20 kittens and four puppies move in
#1 "I have taken in and lived with 28,000 cats. That's probably a record."
Lynea Lattanzio, age 67, sold her wedding ring, her car, and spent her retirement money to house 1,100 cats. She even gave up her 5 bedroom home when the cats became too numerous to live with. It all started when her father's cats died. Lynea went to a local animal shelter to adopt two more cats for her father. She ended up coming home with 15 kittens.
#2 Meow Meow Paradise
Eventually, she founded 'Cat House On The Kings' in Parlier, California––a no-kill, non-caged cat sanctuary. Special fencing allows the cats to roam freely. A staff of over 45 people (not including volunteers) helps feed and clean up after the cats. Feeding can take up to an hour! The sanctuary also has its own veterinarian, ICU, and animal hospital for old and sickly cats.
#3 Cats Living Like Kings
The cost of running the shelter is over 1 million dollars per year. That may sound like a lot, but it's well worth it. Cat House On The Kings has spayed and neutered 40,000 cats and dogs, and has saved another 24,000 cats! Lynea Lattanzio is one crazy cat lady, but at least it's for a good cause. Her goal is to find loving homes for each adorable kitty.
#4 Forever Homes
"I like cats because they are independent, they are beautiful, they are just graceful, and I enjoy watching them," she says. If you'd like to help out by adopting a pet, contact Cat House On The Kings. But try to keep it under 15 cats.
