The escape sounds a lot like Shawshank Redemption's jailbreak. The escape happened in the early hours of Christmas morning in Cocke County Jail Annex in Tennessee.

According to the sheriff, a water leak led to the concrete and the bolts that held the toilet in place being damaged, allowing the inmates to seize the opportunity and escape.

The sheriff said: "Apparently the bolts holding the unit rusted out and there was prior damage to the concrete due to plumbing repairs.

"The inmates vandalised the lavatory, removing it from the wall, and gained access to a hole which led outside of the facility."

Of the six that escaped, two men, John Mark Speir and Steven Lewis, have been caught, with four, John Thomas Shehee, Harce Wade Allen, Eric S Click and David Wayne Frazier, still on the loose.
