#2 From where does this color come from?

As with any other eye color, green color also comes from pigmentation. Pigments are located on the surface of the eye that gives the eye its unique color.

Both the amount of pigment and angle of light gives the triking green color to the eyes.

Pigments are responsible for giving color to ee. In case of a lack of melanin, the eye color appears blue. This is the reason why some infants have blue colored eyes as it takes some time to develop melanin.

The numbers are shocking. It is estimated that 79% of the population generally has brown eyes while only 8% have blue eyes. Hazel eyes make 5% of the population while the green eyes make only 2% of the population. Shocking, right?

While only 1% of the population makes for violet, blue, red and grey eyes. This can be caused by anything from low melanin levels to conditions such as albinism.
