Does everyone have a dark side? The answer is yes. It’s just that some people go step outside of the socially acceptable boundaries while others stay within them. It’s different for each person. Lies, manipulation, jealousy, shame, being territorial, erotic things and violence are just some of the qualities and characteristics that some people have. It doesn’t necessarily have to be food; it might even be a black oil. Neon Hitch tapped into this fetish by combining good looking clothing, with high heels, showing pleasurable pictures along with the messy black oil in her music video #$%^ U Betta. Men like all kinds of wet and messy things like sticky and gooey edible whipped cream, baked beans, Jell-O, oil, milk or any other type of food and liquid that is goopy. Individuals even say that when looking at something terrible it’s “like a car crash.” A professor of psychiatry at the University of Washington, Roland Maiuro, mentioned that accidents give a person a close encounter with death without being personally and directly involved in an incident.
DESTRUCTION
Everyone has experienced an endless line of traffic and obscenities from drivers because traffic is moving like a snail. Once we see what was causing the traffic jam, no matter how gruesome it could be, we take a peek at what’s going on. Human beings are curious creatures and nothing brings it out of us like a disaster. Nobody can help but look at disaster footage because it’s like a real-life horror film. But it’s not fake; it’s entirely real. There is a whole sub Reddit area dedicated to disasters. People’s amusement with catastrophe isn’t something that’s new. It’s been going on for some time. Just look at the news. When disaster strikes, ratings go up. Seeking out a little excitement when life gets boring is understandable. When other people experience catastrophe, it seems to be a safe way of getting a thrill.
FORUMS ON MISOGYNY
Misogyny is an exercise of disdain for, or discriminatory against women and girls. Forms of misogyny can rear their ugly head in a number of ways: not intermixing socially, sexual discrimination, being hostile, male privilege, cutting down women, viciousness against women and sexual objectification. Sacred religious texts are filled with misogyny. This sick fetish isn’t something that’s new. It has been going on forever. Many men look down on women. It starts with them having bad experiences with women on a consistent basis. When men experience bad things with women, they generally feel that way about all women. Not a lot of time goes by without hearing a television program, movie or newspaper article about the Nazis. Movies featuring them continue to pour out of the film studios, from Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds to Polanski’s The Pianist. The horrible crimes that the Nazis committed still haunt us to this very day. Some of the things that come to light are various forms of artwork that were stolen from Jewish owners. Millions of these objects that were recovered are now in galleries and museums.
TOASTERS
Another area of Reddit, which isn’t necessarily dark but weird, contains people that are infatuated with pictures of toasters. Violent things that come out of toasters and stories that happen when they burn toast are fascinating to these people. We suspect that these people are not just into toasters of all kinds, but might be collectors of the old vintage cookware found in the kitchens years ago. There are, for example, people who are eager to own vintage cast-iron skillets, old cooking utensils with painted wooden handles, earthenware mixing bowls, glass refrigerator storage dishes, juicers, coffee pots, waffle irons, and yes, toasters. In the ’20s, people really got into kitchen appliances, especially toasters, because of the old magazine ads that were around at that time. In 1929, there was an ad for Hotpoint. It was a group of people — two women in elegant gowns and a man in a tuxedo — and right below the photo, it said, “Here are the gifts to delight the modern woman’s heart. She’ll take pride in their beauty . . . and joy in the daily convenience they afford.” In the photograph, there is a coffee urn set, a range, a waffle maker, an iron and the toaster. This corner of Reddit is all about formulating evil plans to get back at someone. Kevin shares a house with five other people, including the landlord. When he first moved in, the landlord set up a bunch of rules for him to follow, which is pretty much standard when you share a house with someone else. There was a heater that belonged to Kevin. It was the middle of winter and the landlord ripped him a new one from now until Sunday about how he needed to turn it off unless he was going to pay the electric bill. The renter still used the heater. After this, the landlord broke it. A few months later, the landlord got upset about the water bill. It was higher than usual. That’s to be expected because it was the middle of winter. She kept on giving Kevin grief, then asked him to move out. Kevin decided to purchase a Nair hair removal cream and placed it into her shampoo and conditioner. No mercy! Kevin bought 20 mice and punched a hole in the wall and feeds them until he left. He also bought two whole chickens, oysters, prawns and sheep’s brains, and he put the chickens behind the fridge. The oysters went into the couch cushions. The prawns went into the ends of the curtains and the sheep’s brains somewhere to rot.
HAIRY ARMPITS
The last dark corner of Reddit found were men who like women with hairy armpits. Some think it’s perfectly normal to like a woman with body hair because that is what nature intended. Hair is just that, hair. Why some men have a fetish towards it is way beyond our comprehension. We’re not sure why there is such a big fuss about it. It’s a bit weird how women today are pressured into shaving everything. Not just the armpits and legs, some take it to the private parts as well. Most of the women in foreign countries don’t shave their armpits. We are not sure which countries that this practice would be in, but one of them is in the African tribes.
BLOOD AND CUT WOUNDS
Many of us will sit in front of our TV, not taking our eyes off the screen for a second when someone is killed with blood shooting out all over the place. It’s a fact that tons of people all over the world are addicted to horror flicks. But what’s more disturbing is that people are fascinated with blood in real life. On the dark side of Reddit, we found lots of photos of people experimenting with cutting themselves. Then afterward, they take a photograph and display it online for the whole world to see. Some of the photographs seen were even those of shaving and having the bumps left behind due to the use of a bad razor. Others were pictures of slashes to the wrist that were sewed up. It is all just plain weird.
