Strangers Raise $100,000 So 82 y/o Walmart Employee Can Finally Retire
Butch Marion took TikTok by storm after user Rory McCarty shared his story with the world, revealing that even at the age of 82, Marion had to work 40-hour work weeks to make a living.
@bug_boys 82yr old Butch still putting in work. Has anybody seen the videos where a guy raised 180g's to help an 82 yr old walmart employee retire. We ought to do that for Butch. Who would donate? #fyp #foryou #foryoupage #walmart #gofundme ♬ original sound - BugBoys
McCarty first encountered Marion when he had stopped by the store to buy some batteries. Upon meeting Marion, McCarty was determined to do something to help him.

Upon the success of the GoFundMe, McCarty said, "I just wanted to put something in motion and the Lord did the rest.”
The TikTok video showed Marion working and scanning groceries despite being over 80 years old.

McCarty said, "I was shopping at Walmart the other day, and was waited on by an 82 yr old man named Butch.
"As a business owner and knowing how hard it's been to try to find good help for my business. I was astounded seeing this little older man still grinding."

McCarty got the idea to reach out to TikTok after seeing another elderly worker get the same sort of help.
"Working 8 to 9 hour shifts," Rory explained. "Recently seeing a GoFundMe for an 82 yr old lady working at Walmart on TikTok, and seeing they raised money for her to retire for good.”
@bug_boys A look back at the very beginning at the 1st day i met Butch up till today. An absolute miracle what you all did for this Navy veteran #fyp #foryou #foryoupage #foryourpage #fy #fypage #navy #retire #retirement #walmart #gofundme #viral ♬ original sound - BugBoys
He further added, "I wanted to help this Navy Veteran to live the remainder of his years travelling to see his kids in Florida. Get him off his feet for 8 hrs at a time.

"And do the things he would love to do that he may not be able to for financial reasons. Every penny will go to Butch.
"Janette, the daughter of Butch, has confirmed that I can withdraw the funds on behalf of her father and send them outside of GoFundMe.”

"Once that happens, I will be hand delivering Warren Marion (Butch) a cashier check for the full amount given after the GoFundMe fee is subtracted."
Butch was given a check of $108,000 and was finally able to retire saying, "This is just unreal. I feel like a new man. Bird out of a cage."
