A Syrian man noticed a pus-filled growth emerge on the underside of his jaw and in a matter of days, it ballooned into the size of a baseball. The man sought medical attention from Dr. Osama Makkia who filmed the grotesque procedure of removing this brimming ball of pus.
The abscess, which is an accumulation of pus built up within the tissue, had become nearly six inches wide underneath the patient’s jaw. “His abscess was very large and if it hadn’t of been drained, it would have got bigger and bigger,” Dr. Makkia stated.

Taking a scalpel to the bulging growth, Dr. Makkia drained the thick goo from within until the abscess looked like a hollow bubble on under-beaten pizza crust. The graphic footage shows Dr. Makkia aggressively gush the fluids out of the growth, almost filling a medical pan to the brim with a murky concoction that looks like a combination of ketchup and expired milk.

“Unfortunately, abscesses are very common and I have done several similar procedures in the past and I predict this won’t be the last,” said Dr. Osama Makkia. However, the surgeon did admit that this was one of the worst abscess cases he’d ever seen.

The patient reportedly required a full three days of bed rest just to recover from the abscess drainage. Dr. Makkia attributed the man’s growth to poverty and prolonged poor dental hygiene, but abscesses can form as a result of any bacterial infection.
