Usually the ayahuascero (shaman) leads the group using songs. These direct the visions. The experience not only opens participants to deeper parts of themselves, but often to commerce with nature. Since finding the right Shaman and location are so important, it's better to go to the country first and ask locals including other foreigners to get first hand advice of who to go with.
