For most expectant mothers, the prospect of catching the first glimpse of your child is one of the most exciting phases of parenthood.
But as these chilling images show, some got more than they bargained for when they went in for their baby scans - with their bundles of joy being replaced by ghostly shapes.
The pictures, shared on Scared Yet, show fetuses at different stages of development pulling frightening faces and, in some cases, looking like something out of a horror movie.
Ultrasounds are always exciting for parents.
