She was misdiagnosed by 30 doctors. And then finally, Dr. Lawrence Afrin of University of Minnesota identified her disease Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). This disease causes the immune system's mast cells to release wrong chemicals in the body at wrong time.

Johanna has become allergic to everything after the diagnosis. But Scott didn't leave her side. He has been escorting her doctor and has made proper arrangements for her in the house by creating an allergy free zone.

Scott expressed, "I can't get too close. I can't hug her safely. I can't hug her without hurting her."

Johanna explained her disease, "As soon as that door opens, I can feel it. My body goes into complete attack mode. It feels like my body is waging war on itself. My throat automatically tightens. It kind of feels like Darth Vader doing a choke hold."

She said, "I feel grateful just extremely grateful. For everyone's help to me. And the fact that I made it, and I'm back and I got another day."

Scott is busy in renovating the house for her wife so she can have an entire floor to herself.
