This Father Got A Giant Chest Tattoo Just Like His Son’s Birthmark

When this father noticed his son getting self-conscious of his birthmark, he decided to get the same mark as a giant tattoo.

This Canadian Dad is the contender for the best dad of the year award.

When he realized that his 8-year-old son Derek was starting to get self-conscious of his birthmark, Derek Prue Sr., decided to take immediate action.

He headed to the nearest tattoo parlour and spent 30 hours painfully getting the same mark tattooed on his own chest.

Derek Sr. wanted to pass on the message that there is nothing to be ashamed of and that his son could be confident, no matter what the birthmark looked like.

Derek Sr, first noticed his son, Derek Jr. getting uncomfortable with his birthmark when he stopped going swimming without a shirt on.

“I knew he was self-conscious about it. I noticed how he was reacting, and it made me wish to do it in order that he would not be the one one.”

The tattoo artists at Juicy Quill Tattoo said they were happy to make the tattoo for him. They said in a statement.

Not only was the tattoo process 30 hours long, but it also took over six to eight weeks to finish. The tattoo artist also said the process was also extremely painful.

While Derek was happy to get the tattoo he did not realise initially that it would take that long.

"I thought it was going to be a one session kind of thing. But three hours turned into about 30 hours. So it's been a bit of a process."

When Derek Jr, first saw the tattoo he was overjoyed and said, “That's cool!”

He also said that while other kids did not make fun of his mark, they did often ask about it.

He is now okay with taking his shirt off at the poolside.
