This Grown Man Lives His Life As A Dalmatian With His Ex-Fiance As His Owner

Everyone has a hobby that they enjoy. Some might be crazier than others but they are still hobbies nonetheless. In this day in age of people being free to express themselves in any way they wish, some have taken it farther than others. Take Tom Peters, for example, he lives his life dressed up as a dalmatian. Tom isn't alone. There is an entire community dedicated to human pups. Keep reading to learn more about this lifestyle that some may find bizarre.

Tom aka Spot

Tom Peters is an average guy with a lifestyle that is anything but average. You see, Tom is what they call a human pup. During an appearance on the daytime talk show "This Morning" Tom, in his role as "Spot" talked about his lifestyle and what it takes to make it work for him.

His commitment to his lifestyle.

Tom says that he is completely committed to the role he plays as Spot. He has even had a custom dalmatian suit made that he wears regularly. He tries to act as much like a dog as he possibly can even going so far as sleeping in a dog cage. He walks on all fours and eats dog food and dog treats from a dog bowl like a real pup.

Raising awareness

During his appearance on the show, he used the platform to raise awareness about his lifestyle. He took the time to address many of the misconceptions that people might have about others like him. Tom said: "People think of it as seedy and that no one should see it. But we’re not there to cause mischief, we’re there to have fun and literally be treated like a puppy."

Just like any other dog, Tom has a human owner who just happens to be his ex-fiance, Rachel Watson.

While on the show, Tom demonstrated what he does in his role as Spot. He sat and ate treats just like a real dog would. Tom says that his pup lifestyle is not sexual for him in any way but because of how unusual it is, it's had a huge impact on his day to day life.

Rachel couldn't deal with it at first.

Tom revealed on the show that his and Rachel's relationship suffered due to his obsession with being a human pup. At first, Rachel didn't understand it. She refused to accept Tom's lifestyle telling the Daily Mail: "I didn’t understand it. I didn’t want to understand it."

Things got better.

Rachel would end up breaking off their engagement in 2008 due to her feelings on his lifestyle. Over the years her opinion has softened on things and she says they are best friends now. She even acts as his owner when he is in pup mode. She claims that they are much closer these days than they ever were when they were romantically involved.

The Documentary that changed everything for Tom and Rachel.

The documentary that featured Tom, The Secret Life of the Human Pups, helped Rachel understand the way Tom feels. It gave her insight into his lifestyle that she didn't have before which led to her opening up to him again.

A form of escapism.

Many people see his lifestyle as a form of deviance but Tom insists that it's harmless. He only uses it as a type of escapism that he is comfortable with. He told This Morning: "When you’re into it, you ignore what’s going on around you in terms of money

and food. It’s not sexual, it’s just escapism to get away from everything that’s run of the mill. There’s no sexual aspect to the puppy side."

A global phenomenon.

Thanks to Tom and the documentary, puppy play is now more understood than it ever was before. Still, puppy play has been a popular fetish for a very long time but it may be awhile before it's more accepted than it is currently. Even though it's a global phenomenon many people still think that it's rooted in BDSM and sex. Tom and Rachel hope to change that one day.
