A Different Kind Of Post

Apparently, Thomas likes to post corny jokes on his Twitter account. However, on this day, he decided to recant a story about a fellow classmate of his that he refers to as "some foreign guy."

Language Barrier

Apparently, his classmate does not speak the best English. Plus, the guy seems to like to spread out all of his things on Thomas' desk, every single day. We could see how that could get annoying.

Like Clockwork

This seems to be a routine that Thomas has been forced to get used to. Could you imagine having to go through this every single day? At least the foreign kid seems friendly. He loves to high five.

Annoyed

Thomas was getting super annoyed with this guy's daily antics. All Thomas wants to do is come to class, sit in his seat, and learn something. It is not too much to ask.

Late For Class

But, one day Thomas was late to class. Things did not appear to be any different than any other day, though. The foreign kid's stuff was still all over his desk.

Saving A Seat

Another guy was late to class and tried to steal Thomas' seat since it was close to the back of the class. We are guessing he was trying to get in unseen by the professor. But, the foreign kid was having no parts of it. That seat was saved for his friend Thomas.

Realization

It was like a light went off over Thomas' head. He suddenly realized that the foreign kid was not being intrusive. He has just been using his things to save a seat for Thomas each day. How sweet!

Appreciation

On this day, Thomas was happy to see his foreign classmate. He was even happy to get that high five that he dreaded most days. Thomas was so touched that the guy was saving his seat every day that he took him out to lunch.

Getting to know each other

Thomas' lunch companion told him about where he was from and why he was in the United States pursuing an education. They talked about his wife and kids back home who he was trying to support from overseas.

Keeping Up Tradition

His new friend told him how exciting it was for him to be in the United States even though he clearly missed his family back home. The lunch went really well and ended with the traditional high five.

Moral of the story

It appears that Thomas learned a little something about himself. He realized that he was selfish and almost missed out on making a great new friend. We are glad that he was able to come to this realization.
