#1 Za’mya

Larry Donte Haynes, 34, from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Amber McCray, 23, his live-in girlfriend, called for an ambulance. They reported that Hayne's daughter Za'mya had fallen out of her bed and had become unresponsive. Emergency crews were sent to the scene and found the little girl dead.

#2 The Unthinkable

But in 2015, investigators took a closer look at the case and found out that something else had happened. Something unthinkable. Little Za'mya had been murdered. After initial questioning of the girlfriend, both she and Haynes went on the run from the police.

#3 Trauma

Za'mya was on restricted visitation with her father and was only allowed to visit him three times per year for a few days at a time. This time, Za'mya was on a 4 days visitation with Haynes, when she received blunt force trauma to her abdomen and head, reported Dr. Stephen Robinson, an associate medical examiner with the Broward Medical Examiner's Office.

#4 No Accident

And it wasn't an accident that caused her death. The conclusion was that Haynes and McCray had inflicted the injuries upon Za'Mya, causing the toddler's death. His daughter also appeared malnourished and dehydrated. Apparently, he wanted to get off child support, and the twisted solution he found was to kill his little daughter. His girlfriend, Amber McCray, told investigators that the father had planned to kill her when she came to visit and she couldn't talk him out of it.

#5 Captured And Jailed

In his twisted logic, by killing her, he would be able to stop paying for her to live. But now after being on the run for over a year, he may have to pay the ultimate price. Police found the couple and have them in Broward County jail. The judge has denied any bail for either of the killers and charged them with first-degree murder charges for the November death of his Haynes daughter, who was weeks away from her third birthday.

#6 Justice For Her Baby

The family of Za'mya are heartbroken over their loss and shocked that a father would do such an act. They had been helping police search for the couple as they grieved. "Justice finally came for my baby," said Shanika Williams, 30, the little girl's mother. "It's been seven long months of sleepless nights waiting for the capture. Now we wait for their trial."

He thought he could get away with not paying his child support payments for his daughter's life by murdering her. Hopefully, justice will be served.
