David Sneddon was 24 years old when he went to China for hiking. He was last seen at the Tiger Leaping Gorge trail on August 14th, 2004. When he didn't come back, his family got suspicious and contacted the Chinese authorities. After searching for Sneddon exhaustively, the Chinese police closed the case by calling it a fatal hiking accident.

However, there was speculations recently that Sneddon might be alive as he was seen again on the same spot of his disappearance.

The spot where Sneddon disappeared is actually a place where North Koreans try to enter China illegally.

"We initially thought that China had picked David up thinking he was involved in the underground railroad because a former companion of his had been teaching a North Korean family in Beijing," Sneddon's father Roy told.

In 2011, Sneddon's family was invited on a national talk show to talk about Sneddon's disappearance. After the show aired, Sneddon's father received a call from a US citizen living in Seoul who claimed to have seen Sneddon.

Sneddon is an English teacher in Pyongyang and is supposedly married and has two kids.

Now, two Republican politicians have vowed to find out what actually happened to Sneddon after the story has been repeatedly covered by different media outlets.
