Police are looking into reports that a shirtless man attacked and harassed a woman in a Stockport McDonald's.

Around 5 a.m. on Sunday, Sarah Kutiwa went to the chain restaurant in the town center to celebrate her 27th birthday.

She claims that the man started hurling racist language at her there, and the incident was caught on camera.

Additionally, Sarah alleged that he later grabbed and smashed her phone, slapped her and her friend, knocked her to the ground, and left her with a mark on her head.

Sarah told Manchester Evening News: "It was my birthday celebration and I just didn't want it to end like that. I have experienced racism before but never physically like that.

"I've never had a random grown man abusing me and howling at me like that. I felt like I had gone back in time in that McDonald's.

"Obviously racism is evident but to hear it right in front of you like that was just horrible.

"I am upset that I let it get under my skin. I'm also upset it escalated like that when I think it could have been prevented if they had chucked him out when I asked them to.

"I have never felt so alone. I stood up for the staff but they didn't stand up for me... felt in danger. I didn't feel safe."

Around 5 a.m., Sarah claims the incident started when she overheard the man in the video telling the restaurant's security guard to "go back to your own country."

She says she intervened and warned him that he had "gone too far" and shouldn't have been racist; nonetheless, it is said that he subsequently turned against her.

He allegedly began "flexing his muscles" and "got in her face," according to her.

He removed his shirt after she ripped it during a fight that began when she attempted to push him away.

Sarah claims that he then called her a racial insult while being recorded by her sister, who is heard adding, "I got that on tape."

After saying "What? What?" twice more, the man can be heard repeating the slur.

Sarah went on to say that her male companion had allegedly been slapped and the target of a homophobic slur.

She claimed that when she attempted to capture the man, he grabbed her phone and threw it out the restaurant's front door.

Since then, the McDonald's on Wellington Road South has been the subject of an investigation by the Greater Manchester Police for "an incident of racist abuse."

Shan Nasim, superintendent of the GMP Stockport Division, stated: "GMP recognizes the devastating impact that hate crime can have on individuals. It is an abhorrent crime and specialist officers have been deployed to support the victim.

"We are pursuing multiple lines of inquiry and I can assure you that anyone found committing this type of crime will find themselves subject to criminal proceedings."

McDonald's has referred to the racist abuse as "abhorrent" and stated that they will fully cooperate with any police investigations.

Sarah, however, claimed the topless male was even allowed to order food and depart the premises in a taxi without being confronted, and she was upset that McDonald's security or staff didn't step in.
