Tom Hanks was recently filmed shouting loudly at an aggressive fan after he followed him and his wife when they were leaving a New York restaurant.

The video shows his wife getting knocked by a fan and she almost loses her footing before the actor immediately moves forward to intervene outside the midtown restaurant on Wednesday, 15 June.

As his wife tries to regain her balance, she puts her hands in the air and said ‘stop it!’ However, Tom was much more direct in his approach to protect his wife, telling the fans to: “Back the f**k off... knocking over my wife."

“Come on,” said one upset fan in response to the mobbing.

“Sorry about that, Tom!” shouted another as the visibly angry actor was escorted into his car.

It is reported the couple had been enjoying dinner after watching a screening of the Elvis biopic, in which Hanks plays the iconic musician’s manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

"Holy s**t Tom Hanks angry and swearing. that's gotta be a first ," another wrote.

This shocking incident comes during speculations regarding Hanks' health after fans noticed the actor's visible weight loss on the red carpet for Elvis, which is not thought to be for an upcoming role.

According to Daily Star, Hanks lost weight for his character in Castaway, but after the actor was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, he vowed to never do it again.

Reacting to the photograph of him on the Elvis red carpet, one fan wrote: “I’m hoping Tom Hanks is well. I recall he’s diabetic so perhaps that accounts for the weight loss. His colouring though and his posture isn’t great.”

In a recent Vanity Fair interview, Hanks' son, Chet, 31,  shared the troubles he went through growing up as a kid of famous parents.

He said it can lead to a lot of 'jealousy' and 'envy' and said that people have often formed opinions about him before getting to know him.
