Two Tennessee sisters who were home alone as their house was being ransacked by burglars were able to hide in a cabinet and make a panicked 911 call which saw the men responsible arrested as they tried to escape.
The girls - aged 16 and 13 - were inside their Nashville home about 9.15am Monday when they looked outside the kitchen window and saw two men dressed in black trying to break open the back door.
The eldest sister called 911 as both girls ran into the bathroom in their parents' bedroom.
Two men began to burglarize a home in the Nashville suburbs.
Unbeknownst to them, two teenage sisters were home at the time.
The sisters, one 13 years old and one 16 years old, quickly ran to the bathroom in their parents room.
Then they squeezed into a cabinet and called 911.
As the 16-year-old sister explained the situation to the dispatcher, Carlos Murillo and Brian Tomberlind were ransacking the house.
The girl had to whisper to talk to the dispatcher.
The dispatcher told the girls that police were on the way, but the girls were still very scared.
The two robbers got closer and closer to the bathroom as the dispatcher alerted the sisters that police were arriving at the house.
The police showed up and began assessing the situation, while the girls remained in hiding.
The police had to move slowly and methodically so that the thieves couldn't escape.
Tomberlind attempted to escape through he yard, but the police quickly apprehended him.
Murillo hid in the same bathroom as the girls, and they had to be absolutely silent so he wouldn't discover them. Eventually, the police found and arrested him, as well.
Here is the audio of the tense 911 call.
These brave girls helped themselves by being proactive and calling the cops while hiding.
