#1 Doing Touristy Things

This photo has caught the attention of everyone online, but not because it's a happy vacation snapshot. The little girls were standing on the steps near Wat Phra That Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai, Thailand, when they had their photo taken with a happy, naive tourist.

#2 Her Boyfriend Took A Picture

The photograph, snapped by the woman's boyfriend, shows two small Thai girls dressed in traditional garb, fiddling with the woman's bag, arm, and wrists as she smiles for the camera.

#4 Very Clear Evidence

The little Thai girl on the right can clearly be seen in the resulting photograph unhooking the woman's watch from her wrist while smiling it up for the camera.

The photo in question was taken outside Wat Phra That Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai, a province in Thailand's north, which leads up the 300 steps to the famous Thai Temple. The man said he and his girlfriend had been left scratching their heads when they realised her watch was missing. He later admitted that the two had a few drinks before heading out to see the sites.

#9 Adorable Little Thieves

'I've seen those little thieves before,' one man wrote along with a picture of two identical girls that robbed him a year before. 'Adorable, adorable thieves. I didn't suspect a thing when I saw them,' said another victim of the Thai thieves. One man commented that he had spotted six or seven girls in similar attire, all getting their pictures taken with smiling tourists, alerting the message board that he believes the girls a part of an organized gang.

#10 They Had A Technique

A police investigator shared his thoughts on the thievery at the Temple site and said that the girls had been doing the same thing for several years. He noted that the girl's mother or 'manager' was nearby, and would ask for tips to have pictures with the children. 'Notice how the thief is touching her hand in several places? It's a pickpocket technique so that the mark gets accustomed to being touched by the thief and stops registering all of the touches,' he wrote.

#11 Thailand Has Crime Rate Above Average

But this is not the only thing to be leery of when visiting Thailand. The country is well known for its extremely high crime, and in most cases, the victims never even report it to police since they don't realize they have been victimized until much later on. Street signs in Bangkok warn visitors about purse snatchers and locals riding close by on bicycles who rob tourists walking down the busy streets. A recent raid in a garage recovered almost 2,400 stolen passports.
