Surprisingly, the hole isn't just there for easy access when going to the bathroom
Underwear Brand Reveals Real Reason Why Men’s Boxers Have Hole In The Front
You're not the only one who has ever questioned the purpose of the opening on the front of your underwear.
However, one business has finally disclosed the actual purpose of the space between your boxers.
Let's face it, most males are very self-assured when it comes to their restroom routine.
However, many would be lying if they claimed they had never questioned why there is a hole in the front of their boxers, briefs, or pants.
You would think the solution would be very obvious, but not quite.
According to one underwear company, there are other factors at play here besides urinating.
Over the years, several "ask-a-stranger" websites like Quora, Yelp, and Reddit have questioned the boxer hole—also referred to as a flap or a fly—and its intended use.
The flap is so unappealing to some guys that many underwear companies have started to make lines without it.
Nevertheless, given that many men purchase with and others purchase without, it can still be a question of taste.
Despite this, the underwear company Sheath recently said: "The hole in your boxers is also called a fly."
"You're free to call them whatever name you want, but the functional term is still fly. Why is it there? You guessed it! The purpose of the fly is to make it easier for you to pee while wearing boxers."
In spite of this, the company claims that 80% of men never really urinate through the opening in their underwear.
In general, it's much easier to pull them down!
Given that only 20% of guys really use the boxer fly, this suggests there may be more to the phenomenon.
Sheath's website states: "Today's modern underwear is nothing like what men wore even a few decades ago."
"The actual pouch where the fly is located has also been changing drastically. In the past, this area used to be flat. This design does not give the man a natural way for his penis to be contoured."
"Thankfully, men today have a better option. New boxer briefs and men's briefs have a design that actually has a roomier pouch," the brand explained.
"This new pouch design gives the man more definition, comfort, support, and freedom."
A decent pair of briefs should also have definition, comfort, freedom, and support, it seems.
Nonetheless, other Reddit users think it's a pointless addition because they would prefer to wear more secure pants that will reduce the possibility of their family jewels being accidentally taken out.
