A story of an alleged marriage fraud that involves a lady who claims she only realized her husband is a woman 10 months after their wedding has become a hot topic in Indonesia. The claimed victim in the case, a 22-year-old lady from Jambi whose initials are NA, took to social media to share her experience while the case against the accused, whose initials are AA, was heard at the Jambi District Court.
Woman Discovers Husband Is Actually Female 10 Months Into Marriage
A lady who claims she was the victim of a marriage fraud claims she didn't realize her husband was a woman in disguise until 10 months after their wedding day.
After the case made headlines earlier this week, the 22-year-old lady, identified only by her initials NA, published her experience on social media.
It comes after the accused, known only by their initials AA, appeared in Indonesia's Jambi District Court on Tuesday (June 14).
In May 2021, the victim said she matched with the scammer on a dating app.
The scam artist allegedly pretended to be a US-trained surgeon and a coal businessman looking for a wife after recently converting to Islam.
The couple married in a nikah Siri ceremony three months later, which is recognized by religion but not by the state.
They were unable to conduct a state-sanctioned wedding since the groom did not have the necessary civil documents.
For several months, the newlyweds resided with the victim's parents. AA kept requesting money throughout this time, and her parents were skeptical because he couldn't show any proof of his excellent credentials.
Apparently, AA never introduced 'his' own family and appeared to have a very relaxed schedule despite claiming to be a qualified doctor.
NA's mother was also quite skeptical after she noticed that AA never took off 'his' clothes and would even bathe with clothes on when others were at home.
According to Coconuts, the swindler's family and friends constantly backed up his career claims.
The trickster took their wife away from her family to Lahat, South Sumatra, to avoid further interrogation.
She was subsequently restricted to the residence for several months and forbidden from engaging with anyone else while she was there. Her 'husband' was in charge of their finances as well.
However, when NA confronted her husband AA lumps on his chest, AA responded that it was a hormonal problem.
Eventually, NA's mother demanded that 'he' strip to prove he was indeed a man and at that point, AA confessed that he was actually a woman named Erayani who had lied about everything including her job
AA was revealed to be a woman with the initials EY during her police interrogation.
The family claims they were defrauded of IDR 300 million ($20.262,87) within the first ten months of their marriage.
When asked about their sex life on social media, the victim revealed that her 'husband' would always turn out the lights and blindfold her before sex.
The con artist told the cops that she cherished her wife with her hands, but the victim claimed she was confident EY used penetrative sexual equipment during their affair.
NA also alleged that EY tried to kill her by instructing her to jump into a river despite her inability to swim.
The victim's parents denounced EY to the authorities for falsifying educational records, which could be the first of many charges against her and might land her in prison for up to ten years. The Jambi District Court is now holding a trial for that lawsuit.
