Woman Fatally Allergic To Cold Weather Can Barely Leave The House During Winter

#1 Allergic To Cold

Kelly Pouw from Ontario Canada has an allergic condition that is 'cold-induced urticaria' in which she is sensitive to cold. Even slight contact with cold, snow or cold beverages induces severe allergic reaction on her body.

#2 Her Condition Is Life-Threatening

At the onset of the allergy, Pouw's whole body breaks out into itchy hives that grow in size and her tongue and throat also swell up making the situation potentially life-threatening.

#3 Hibernate In Cold Weather

To avoid an emergency, Pauw has to carry epi-pens with her all time and to ensure her health. Talking to a local TV, Pauw said, "It affects me because I have three little ones who love playing outside in the snow and swimming, and I can’t go with them. I’m allergic to the cold, it gives me hives; and if I’m exposed to it for a long time, I can go into anaphylactic shock."

#4 Cannot Stand Cold Even For A Minute

The poor woman says that her body can't bear to stand in cold for even seconds, "My reactions are so severe that even when I stepped outside for a few seconds in -23 weather hives appeared in less than a minute. My hives range is size anywhere from a blueberry to the size of an apple, they are very itchy, and it feels like my skin is being pulled tight.”

#5 Sympathizing Her Situation

Explaining her situation Pauw says there are people who mock her for her situation and even consider her crazy while there are also people who sympathize with her. "When I tell people about my condition they look at my like I’m crazy and think I’m joking, others have shown sympathy though. There are people all around the world with this condition and children too, it must be even more difficult for them trying to go to school in winter."

#6 Teaching Her CHild Ways To Deal With An Emergency Situation

Pauw says there are a lot of people in the world including children who suffer from this condition. She has also taught her 6-year-old daughter to learn how to use an epi-pen to deal with an emergency situation.
