For years, shopping mall parking lots have been notorious for instances of theft.

Now they may be notorious for something more sinister than a mere car break-in.

An Appleton, Wisconsin woman took to Facebook with a terrifying tale.

It started out innocuously enough. Her mother decided to visit the Macy's store at the local mall.

Savannah Nguyen (right) then wrote that something very odd happened to her mother Sony (left).

As Sony was leaving the mall something that made her feel very uneasy occurred.

Savannah wrote that as her mother got into her car to leave the mall, a "large SUV with tinted windows pulled into the spot next to her."

Sony felt immediately that something wasn't right.

Sony immediately drove off toward her home.

"[Sony] felt uneasy because there were so many other empty parking spaces, but they pulled up right next to her car," Savannah wrote.

While driving home, Sony noticed a strange tapping sound.

But Sony wasn't about to stop until she was safely home.

When Sony pulled into the driveway of her home, she noticed what was making the strange tapping sound.

This bag with a ring in it was affixed under the windshield wiper.

"This is exactly how abductions and human trafficking take place," wrote Savannah.

"Of course a person would be curious and want to read the writing on the bag," wrote Savannah. "But in the two seconds it takes you to grab the bag from under the windshield to read what is on there, it might already be too late.

The Grand Chute Police Department now is investigating the incident.

"I STRONGLY urge everyone to tell your loved ones about this scenario," wrote Savannah. "Whether it be your daughter, son, sister, brother, mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, or friends - and/or share this post and get the word out."

Kay Jewelers says that it wasn't their idea.

Before reporting the incident to the police, Sony and Savannah made sure that the incident wasn't some kind of unconventional viral marketing campaign on the part of Kay Jewelers.
