Just under two weeks after she was arrested for attempting a murder-for-hire scheme, a 20-year-old woman finally had her day in court, and the details of her plot are fascinating.

Monique Earle, of New Hampshire, was put in handcuffs after she was caught looking to order a hit on the girlfriend of her ex. Except when she went to meet the "hit man," she was actually meeting up with an undercover officer, NBC Boston reports.

The incident was reported to a shelter manager and police, officials said.

"Law enforcement contacted the reporting party, the reporting party reiterated those concerns, and the reporting party agreed to cooperate with law enforcement in this investigation," Sullivan County Attorney Marc Hathaway said.

NBC Boston quoted Claremont Police Chief Alex Scott as saying,

We were able to put the case together in less than 24 hours and put an end to what could have been a very dangerous situation.

Earle was willing to pay $500 for her adversary to be killed, while NH 1 reports the woman also offered her Juicy Couture bag as a deposit. Police had even obtained a hand-written letter detailing how she wanted her target to die.

"The plans were for (the victim) to be kidnapped, drugged, and raped for a few days," according to the arrest affidavit.

Police asked her to make a phone call to Earle in which police recorded Earle confirming her wishes for the victim's death.

Based on that recorded phone call, the Attorney General's Office arranged for an undercover police officer equipped with a hidden recording device to meet with Earle.

During that meeting, "Monique confirmed with the undercover officer that she wanted the undercover officer to kidnap, drug, rape and kill (the victim)," the affidavit said. And she offered to pay the undercover officer $500.

No cash was presented, but Earl offered to give the undercover officer a Juicy Couture purse she was carrying at the time and pay him the cash later, Hathaway said.

She also directed the undercover officer to go to Facebook to find pictures of the victim.

The affidavit said:

"After the meeting we returned to the police department and discussed what direction to go with the investigation and decided to contact Monique once more to see if she would take the undercover officer to Canaan and Enfield to show the undercover officer where (the victim) lived and worked, as well as to confirm that the photos he printed from the Facebook profile were of Amber."

Earle's ex-boyfriend is the father of her 7-month-old son and her unborn child. They had all been living in a tent behind a Kmart, but the boyfriend left her for another woman just days after Thanksgiving.

Earle made her motives clear during a police interview, during which she reportedly asked, Wouldn't you want somebody gone if she destroyed your family? But if she's found guilty, she might be the one that ends up "gone."
