From our weekly grocery bills to the staples we rely on daily, the impact is tangible, hitting us right where it hurts the most: our wallets.

Among the sectors experiencing significant shifts, the housing market stands out, particularly challenging for younger generations aspiring to own a home.

The dream of homeownership in one's 20s seems more like a fantasy than a realistic goal, given the skyrocketing prices that exclude many from even considering entering the property market.

However, an innovative solution has emerged, potentially opening doors to the housing market for many: tiny houses.

Remarkably, one such house is now available on Amazon for the modest sum of $20,000.

To give you a sense of scale, consider that the median price for a home in the US was recorded at $413,200 in December, according to data from the US Census Bureau.

It's no wonder, then, that the prospect of securing a home at such an affordable price is turning heads and stirring considerable buzz online.

This trend has caught the attention of millions, with a particular video showcasing a tiny house from Amazon going viral on TikTok, amassing over 21 million views.

TikToker Nathan Graham, who purchased the house, claims it offers a more affordable option for neighborhoods.

But the question remains: how practical are these tiny homes, really?

The prefabricated house, measuring 19 feet by 20 feet, provides a compact yet livable space.

If you've ever seen those tiny New York apartments renting for $1,500 a month, you'll know that size doesn't always determine livability.

However, these houses come with a catch: they're delivered by Amazon in a package, requiring buyers to assemble the house themselves upon arrival.

Despite this, the video suggests that assembly can be relatively straightforward, even though the house arrives without pre-wired electricity.

While Redfin Chief Economist Daryl Fairweather doesn't view these homes as the ultimate living solution, she acknowledges their potential to increase the housing stock.

"Tiny homes and [ADUs] that add density to an area can help make neighborhoods more affordable to people who may otherwise be priced out," she explained to Newsweek.

She views ADUs as one of several strategies to promote housing density, especially when paired with policies that encourage the construction of more multi-family housing.

"That's when we can see real progress in bringing down housing costs for all families," Fairweather added.

The fact that a house is being sold on Amazon might come as a surprise to some, but not to shopping expert Trae Bodge.

"I'm not surprised to see [homes for sale on Amazon]," she shared with MarketWatch.

"Selling these homes online presents a new level of opportunity for the retailer to reach consumers who are outside of their local area."

This innovative approach to home selling could potentially reshape how we think about homeownership and accessibility in today's challenging economic landscape.
