This condom is so rare that only few are left to exist, most of them can only be found in museums.

Would you believe there's a condom that cost £462? Well, there is and it was made 200 years ago from sheep intestine. It is believed that this unusual sheath was thought to be used in the 18th or 19th Century, and was a standard for the wealthy back in the day.

This 200-year-old condom was found in France and was auctioned.

Middle ages condoms were made from the intestines of sheep, pigs, calves and goats. Making them was expensive and time-consuming that only rich people were able to afford the condoms.

However, in the 19th Century, rubber condoms which are less expensive began to emerge. Thus, the natural condoms from sheep intestines were no longer made and used.

Material girth: The sheath is made of sheep intestines which was common in the past

The auction for the condom was held on Catawiki, which made a bidding war among interested buyer and eventually sold for more than double its estimated value, making it the most expensive in the world.

Catawiki says, "An ancient condom made of sheep gut is truly remarkable. In addition, the artifact provides further insight into our history and the way we have evolved over time. Therefore, during the auction there was a lot of interest from various museums. In the end, the highest bid was made by a bidder from Amsterdam. What this person is going to do with the condom is not yet known."

Full length: An impressive 19cm long, the usual condom of its time is around 15cm

Modern-day condoms have an average length of 18cm long, but this old school condom is remarkably 19cm long. Longer than the other preserved old condoms that generally measure 15cm in length.
