"Babe" Actor, James Cromwell Arrested Over New York Power Plant Protest

The Emmy-award winning actor is in hot water these days as he has been sentenced to seven days in jail at Orange County. Also, according to reports the actor has refused to pay the fine of $375 thus, would be completing his jail time of 7 days.

The 77-year old actor has been arrested on the charges of involvement at a protest in Wawayanda, New York. The actor was found guilty of blocking the traffic along with six more protestors where they held signs against the "Competitive Power Ventures" prospective natural gas-fired power plant in the town.

Their fight is against this project as there is a risk of carbon emissions from this CPV power plant, which could be a potential threat to the environment and will also play the role in climate change.

Wawayanda Town Justice Timothy McElduff Jr. fined the six protesters $250 plus a $125 surcharge which was due to be paid by June 30, 2017.

Among the six protestors, three of them paid their fine, while the remaining three refused to do so, so they would have to serve the jail time.

After refusing to pay his fine on Thursday, Cromwell told the Times Herald-Record, ‘If we don’t stay together, nothing will change. Power to the people.’

However, following an appeal the three protestors now have the deadline of July,14 to pay their fines.
