The clip, released on The Yowie Hunters YouTube page , shows a dark creature walking through dense forest in New South Wales, Australia.

In the 20-second video, a ranger can be heard exclaiming: "It's too dark to be a kangaroo ."

Just as he finishes the sentence an animal, which appears to be walking upright but hunched over, appears in the distance and makes its way through the trees.

It is around 100 metres away from the witnesses who watch in amazed silence before it disappears.

Recently, a walker claimed to have stumbled upon one of the mythical creatures while in Queensland's Darling Downs' mountain ranges near Toowoomba.

Mr Harrison, who runs the Australian Yowie Research website, said there had been more than 10 sightings in Queensland in the past five years.

And he added: "The sighting was credible. It has all the tell-tale signs of the other sightings. The creature was muscular, had no neck, deep eye ridges and broad shoulders."
