"Home And Away" Star Jessica Falkholt Life Support Turned Off Following Boxing Day Crash That Claimed The Life Of Her Family

Tragic Accident

Jessica Falkholt, "Home and Away" has had her life support system switched off after a tragic boxing day accident that resulted in the death of 3 of her family members. It was confirmed that following the accident, Falkholt was in critical condition at Saint George Hospital, New South Wales. Accord to the police, Falkholt's life support system have been switched but the 28-year old actor remains in a coma.

Falkholt has already lost her parents Lars, 69 and Vivian, 60 and younger sister Anabelle, 21 in the accident. Anabelle died 3 days after the smash.

Who Was At Fault?

The driver of the other car who was also involved in the crash and died on the spot has been identified as Craig Anthony Whitall,50. The police also state that Whitall previously had a nine-year driving ban and has faced at least 10 convictions for driving while disqualified. Whitall's body will also be investigated for possible drug use.

The reason behind the crash has not been stated yet but according to the police, they are investigating if Whitall had been using cellphone while driving. According to the eyewitnesses, Whitall's white Toyota crossed the centre line of the road twice before it crashed into Falkholt's family car.

Fighting For Her Life

The bodies of the family involved in the accident were so badly burned that they were identified by their dental records. Motorists, who pulled Falkholt and her younger sister from the flames describe the accident as a horrific one, "I was one of the first on the scene to this car accident, and to say it was horrific is a massive understatement. Three deceased and two critical."

Falkholt's relatives are keeping a vigil beside her, hoping for a speedy recovery. Falkholt has reportedly undergone several surgeries and a part of her skull and kidney has been removed following the procedure. The actress is now in the coma.

On Her Way To Success

Falkholt made her debut on the silver screen and had minor roles in TV series, "Tricky Business" and "Under: Badness." The 29-year old gained fame with her role of Hope Morrison in the show "Home and Away." With her success, Falkholt paved her way to the Film Industry and got her first big role in the upcoming supernatural thriller movie "Harmony."

Fellow Actors Paid Their Respect To Falkholt Family

Hearing the news of the tragic demise of Falkholt family, "Home and Away" cast expressed their condolences and wished good health to Jessica Falkholt. Co-star Jackson Heywood wrote, " You are a beautifully deep and incredibly unique soul I had the pleasure of knowing ... I will always miss you."

Fellow star, James Stewart tweeted, "RIP Falkholt family."
