Anthony McPartlin and wife Lisa Armstrong have decided to part ways after 11 years of marriage. The couple had been facing issues for the last few months because of McPartlin's struggle with depression and drug abuse. According to the reports, McPartlin has decided to divorce his wife while it seems like Armstrong does not really agree with his decision and has refused to be part of his divorce statement, which in case of the majority of celebrities is usually a joint statement.
McPartlin's representative said, "Ant is very sad to announce that, after 11 years, he is ending his marriage to Lisa McPartlin." According to a source, the decision was the right thing considering his health amid his admission to rehab for drug addiction last year.

In their 11 years of marriage and 20 years of relationship, Armstrong has stood by McPartlin through thick and thin. She was with him when McPartlin was struggling with his career and was there beside him when McPartlin was fighting his addiction to prescription painkillers. A source says, "Lisa has invested her whole life in him and hero-worships him. She doesn’t want it to be over."
McPartlin's divorce statement also read, "Ant asks for privacy at this difficult time, for both himself, Lisa and their immediate families. No further statement will be made."

McPartlin's decision to divorce came after the actor and producer confessed to problems with substance abuse, prescription drugs and booze. The 42-year old star checked into rehab last June. He exited the rehab in August, but he never went back to his marital home. Instead, he shifted to his £ 1.6 million rented house.

After leaving rehab, McPartlin admitted to his issues with depression and addiction, one that has put a strain on their marriage, "All I can say at the moment is that she’s been amazing. This kind of stuff puts strains on any marriage. But we’re good. She’s been fantastic throughout rehab. Very supportive. And time will tell. It’s very personal isn’t it."

McPartlin and Armstrong were teenage sweethearts. The couple first met Smash Hits tour in Newcastle in 1994 when he was 18 and she 17 in the band Deuce. They dated for 11 years before McPartlin proposed her on a holiday trip in Dubai in 2005. The couple got married the following year at a star-studded ceremony.

Four months before entering rehab for his addiction, McPartlin in an interview opened up about his relationship with wife and told the reporter that he still has a romantic side with the wife. The 42-year-old actor said, "I think if you asked my wife she’d say I was. I whisked her off to Paris for her 40th last year. I said we had to be up at 7am, as we were going for lunch. What I didn’t tell her was we were flying to Paris. I spoke to Jamie Oliver and was like: ‘Can you sort us out a restaurant?’ He knew this perfect place. Then Dec and Ali came, too! We had a great time and flew back that night. Is that romantic enough for you?"
