Family And Starting Career As A Model

Fluegel was raised in Binghamton, New York with her three younger brothers and two elder sisters. Trying to support herself after the death of her father from a brain tumor, Fluegel stepped into the world of modeling. She started her modeling career in 1974 at 100$ per hour and retired from modeling in 1981 at triple of her hourly rate.

Quitting Modeling To Embrace Acting As A Profession

Talking about her first movie role, in the movie "Eyes Of Laura Mars" Fluegel in an interview in 1986 said, “I wasn’t ready after Laura Mars. Let’s just say that it wasn’t much of a stretch to portray a New York model being chased by a weirdo. But when I was 25 I decided to go for it. What the hell, right? I was always determined to succeed at whatever I did and I figured Hollywood was a tough nut to crack—but one that could be broken.”

Teaching In An Acting School

Fluegel gave up on her acting career in the mid 90's. She later started her own acting school and eventually became an acting teacher.
