Have you ever watched a movie and realized that you liked the villain more than you liked the hero? Sometimes you might even think that the villain has a point. You are so not alone in this way of thinking. Here are plenty of bad guys throughout history that were not as bad as people say. This list is a perfect example of evil-doers who are totally misunderstood.
10 Misunderstood Villians That We Love To Hate
Hades - Hercules
Hades kind of got the short end of the stick in Greek Mythology. He was forced to watch over the underworld after being stuck there by Zeus. Who hasn't felt stuck at their job and wanted to break free?
The Grinch - How The Grinch Stole Christmas
The Grinch is a miscreant who spent his life with only the company of a dog. He had no one to talk to and people wonder why he snaps when he sees other people having a good time and enjoying Christmas with their families. It really is not hard to feel bad for him.
Hexadecimal - Reboot
Hex was born of the same super-virus that also birthed Megabyte. Unlike her scheming, maniacal brother, she was mostly seriously emotional to a scary degree. She helped them fight against Daemon and eventually became good.
Harley Quinn - Batman: The Animated Series
Harley Quinns has one of the most tragic backstories in comic book history. She was an up and coming psychologist who made an attempt to evaluate The Joker. He managed to twist and break her into being what she is now. She is often homicidal and pretty much insane, but deep down she is just a scared woman who is always getting hurt by the man she loves.
Syndrome - The Incredibles
This guy was a total tool, but he also had a point. Life as a normal person in a world of superheroes has to suck. It would have made life a lot easier if everyone would have had some superpowers.
Captain Hook - Peter Pan
If you ever sat down and read the story of Peter Pan, you would learn that Peter is a total jerk who abandons the Lost Boys when he grows up and got bored with them. He basically treats everyone like crap. It is no wonder that Captain Hook hates him so much.
Sid - Toy Story
We know that Sid is supposed to be evil especially after seeing what he does to his toys. There are a couple of problems with that theory, though. First, find me any kid who has not wrecked a toy or two on purpose. Then, remember that Sid has no idea that these toys are actually alive. Nobody in the movie knows. He even ends up freaking out when he finds out and tries to mend his ways.
Magneto - X-Men
After surviving the Holocaust and the scorn of humans around him, Magneto becomes convinced that humans will never accept mutants and that they should break away from society to form their own nation. He was kind of right. The mutants are treated like crap by the public even after they saved their lives over and over again.
The Shark - Jaws
He was just a shark doing things that sharks do. Yeah, he was a danger to swimmers, but did that really give them the right to blow him up like that?
Edgar - The Aristocats
This poor guy works his tail off for years as some old rich socialite's butler, only to find out that she is leaving her whole fortune to the cats. I'm not even going to lie. I would be pissed too.
