#1. Lice

These fellas crawl around your bed at night and latch onto you for a taste of your blood. In the gif below you can actually see the blood moving around inside of the lice. It is well known that lice can even contribute to the spread of the disease Typhus.

#2. Dangerous Gases

We know that you may be tooting in your bed all night, but this isn't the kind of gas I'm talking about. The synthetic nature of your mattress is known to produce dangerous gases that can cause migraines and even cancer.

#3. Fungus

There are several types of fungus that can be growing in your bed, after all, there is always some level of moisture in the air that allows for this to happen. One particularly dangerous type of fungus is aspergillus fumigatus. It is known to attack people with a compromised immune system and can cause horrible neurological problems. Yes, this is aspergillus fumigatus pictured below.

#4. Ants

Yes, ants LOVE your bed and have been known to completely invade them from time to time. This is one reason that you should keep up on any ant problems, especially fire ant problems, that may be beginning to appear around parts of your kitchen or doors.

#5. Animals

Tons of people let their pets sleep in bed. What's the danger in that? Well, they actually boost your chance of getting worms or other pathogens. Think about it, if they are mucking around in a litter box during the day, they are carrying all of that goodness into bed with you.

#6. E. Coli

We usually associate E. Coli with under-cooked meats or restaurants that have unhealthy cleaning standards but, yeah, they can live in the nooks and crannies of your pillows.

#7. Bed Bugs

You've probably heard about these little critters. They infest your bed and feed off of your blood while you sleep at night. The horrifying part is that they have perseverance they can live in your bed without feeding for several months.

#8. Dust Mites

Did you know that at any given time your mattress can hold millions of dust mites? They really add up and there are rumors that over the course of a decade, dust mite debris has a measurable impact on the weight of your mattress. Have you heard this one? #9. Sweat

This isn't necessarily creeping around your bed, but it is definitely soaking in. Some people have been known to produce up to 26 gallons of sweat in bed per year. Remember all of the talk about fungi mentioned above? Yeah...

#10. Dead Skin

Over the course of the year, a bunch of dead skin accumulates in your bed and happens to be the stuff that many of those critters feed on. They have plenty to eat too, considering that around 30-40,000 skin cells fall from your body every hour.
