Are humans unique & alone on this vast universe? From the time immemorial, scientists across the globe have put in years of research, to find life on other planets, UFO's & aliens. For years, scientists have refused to reveal the truth behind UFO & alien mysteries. This has further increased the speculation of extraterrestrial life. No one can claim that there has been absolutely no alien visitation on the planet Earth. There is a high curiosity among scientist & astronauts to find evidence that there is life elsewhere in universe.

Though there are people who say aliens or UFO's are non sense, there are reasons to prospect their existence. We cannot simply assume that we are alone in this universe. Aliens, extraterrestrials, spacemen, whatever you may wish call them have been seen time and again. There are compelling scientific evidences and statistic that support the idea of alien life. This brings us to bring you 7 reasons to believe in that aliens do exist.

#2 Project Blue Book

Project Blue Book is a US Air Force sanctioned study to officially investigate the existence and veracity of UFO sightings.

Yes, the US government actually spent money and expertise to investigate UFO claims because during many of the flight testing pilots would report sightings of unknown objects violating their airspace.

The USAF investigated almost 12,000 UFO sightings and in the end concluded that there has been no authentic proof that UFOs exist.

FYI, they ran this research for more than 17 years.

#3 Keksberg UFO incident

One of the most famous and believable incidents where the residents of the small town in Pittsburgh reported seeing a capsule streaking across the sky and making a U-turn before falling down.

The residents did get a good look at the capsule and said that it looked like an acorn. But before they could investigate further, the US army took over and cordoned off the area, taking control of the crash site.

After the US government passed the Freedom of Information act, similar to our RTI act, a journalist put in an application to know more about this incident.

The files were declared missing.

#4 The flying saucer crash at Roswell in 1947

In this incident, the military base at Roswell officially gave a statement saying that they found a silver metallic disc at the crash site.

After some time, this statement was reverted and they said that it was a weather balloon that was being tested. Roswell became the most famous incident concerning the UFOs, and because of the first official statement by the military, many still believe that a UFO had indeed crashed at Roswell.

#5 Area 51

For decades, conspiracy theorists claimed that the US government was hiding alien artifacts in this super-secret military base called Area 51. In all that time the US government denied the existence of this secret military base that was claimed to be in the state of Nevada.

The in 2013, the CIA officially declared that area 51 was indeed a real military base in Nevada when they declassified the documents.

This made a lot of buzz in the news at the time and strengthened the claim that Area 51 is used for reverse engineering alien technology. The work that is done on the site still remains Top Secret.

#6 Meteorites

In 2011, NASA astrobiologist Robert Hoover claimed that aliens exist after he discovered fossils of alien bugs inside meteorites that landed earth. He said the test conducted on meteorites suggest no evidence that fossils belong to planet Earth based organisms. He said lack of nitrogen in these meteorites indicates that they are the remains of extraterrestrial life forms that grew on parent bodies when liquid was present. He says he some of the fossils are so strange & don't look like anything he can identify them with, even his co-scientist could not figure them out.

#7 The Drake Equation

Named after its creator, astrophysicist Frank Drake, the drake equation is an attempt to estimate N, number of advanced civilisation in Milky Way galaxy. It is used to arrive at an estimate of the number of active, communicative, extraterrestrial civilisations. The equation was written in 1961 as way to stimulate scientific dialogue at SETI meeting. The drake equation gives us number of communicative civilisations in the galaxy. Current estimation is 2000 communicating civilisations within our galaxy. According to Drake we don't know how many of them potentially harbour life, how often life might evolve & lead to intelligent beings & how long any civilisation might last before becoming extinct. From the fundamental perspective if one applies Drake equation, there is possibility that we are not the only time & place when an advanced civilisation has evolved. The results imply that our evolution is not unique & probably has happened before many times.

#8 The Universe is Big

We live in milky galaxy; there are more than 200 billion addition galaxies in universe, which makes it highly possible that there is life in other galaxies too. The diameter of universe is believed to 28 billion parsecs, which is 93 billion years. Astronomers believe that there are56 billion planets in this universe. Whether one believes or not, there is no denying the universe is vast incredible planet and other life forms can harbour in another part of universe.

Carl Sagan explains the analogy of alien life to our relation with ants. He says we know that ants exist but do ants know we exist, though they may interact with us, it's really not worth our time to communicate with ants. Same can also apply the other life forms which exist in other galaxies as well. They & we may not be aware of each other's existence. This analogy certainly proves that we live in really big planet and we are not the only one in the universe.

#9 The Wow Signal

In the year 1977, on august 15th, Jerry R Ehman an astronomer detected a strong narrowband radio signal while working on a project. He spotted a vertical column with alphanumeric sequence "6EQUJ5" which occurred at 10.16 pm EST. The signal was so unique & interesting that he circled it & wrote Wow with red pen. The signal came from a empty spot on the perforated paper used during those days. The duration of the signal was 72 seconds & came from within Sagittarius constellation. The closet star from there was 220 million light years away.

Though the signal lacked explicit information, it got the attention as it was narrow band and powerful. The signal that got media attention was so intense that the scientists have been trying to detect it time and again. Till date they are baffled upon the question how or who created the "Wow" signal.

#10 Politicians Have Seen Them

President Jimmy Carter is sometimes referred as "UFO President" as he has claimed to have had a UFO sighting before becoming president. He is one of the two US Presidents who have made such claim. He claims to witness the UFO in year 1969 while he was waiting outside to attend Lion club's meeting in Leary Georgia. He was there with ten other men, said it was the darndest thing to see, it was big, bright, changed colours & was about moon's size. He said he watched it for ten minutes but couldn't figure out what it was. He also said that he would never make fun of those people who have seen the unidentified objects in sky. President Carter words cannot be debugged as he continued his claims during his presidential campaign in 1977.

Another US President to make such claim is Dennis Kucinichboth.

#11 Ancient Evidence

It is hard to dismiss the ancient evidence of alien's existence. Some of the paintings and scriptures from ancient times depict possibility of alien life. In a painting of Virgin Mary created in 15th century a man and a dog are depicted at the backdrop hovering at disk like object which is suspiciously similar to what we describe in modern world of today as UFO. This is not one painting; there are several others evidences from Cave Paintings to Sanskrit Scrolls, all depicting alien life. In the book of Ezekiel, a prophet has a vision of a flying object, accompanied by fire, smoke & loud noise. Some theorist argued that the vehicle's design closely mirrors that of modern spaceship. These inscriptions indicate an early encounter between human and aliens.

#12 Astronauts’ Claims

Over the years many astronauts have shared their fascinating encounters with aliens and they believe that alien's do exist.

In 1965, astronaut Ed White & James McDivitt were passing over Hawaii in a Gemini spacecraft, when they witnessed a strange-looking metallic object with long arms sticking from it. Though McDivitt took pictures, he couldn't capture it properly due to the glare & grubby windows. Though some call it off as rumours, the debunkers did not underestimate their encounter.

In another instance in 1969, Buzz Aldrin said to Mission Control that two large unknown objects were watching him and Neil Armstrong after landing on the moon. But the message was censored & never heard in public, which led to the speculation that aliens exist. Buzz Aldrin has also spoke of his experience on board the Apollo 11 when he and Neil saw something flying alongside them. At first they thought it was the final stage of the detached rocket, but the mission control confirmed it was 6000 miles away from them

#13 The Battle of Los Angeles

Probably the most believable conspiracy theory here, in the middle of the Second World War, 25 aircraft flying in a cluster were spotted 120 miles west of the city of Los Angeles. The military went into a frenzy thinking that the Japanese were attacking them. The artillery division fired at these aircraft, but none of the bullets connected.

There was no wreckage, nor was there any signs of aircraft after this. The military commanders credited this incident to mass hysteria. A likely story.
