25 People Who Tried To DIY... But Really Shouldn’t Have.

DIY has become a big trend in the most recent years. If you're not already familiar with the acronym, it stands for "do it yourself." DIY projects usually entail some type of creative project that are "easy" to achieve for a much cheaper price than actually buying whatever it is you're making.
Unfortunately, these DIY projects aren't always as "easy" as we think they are. And unfortunately not everyone is cut out to become a DIYer. In fact, some people should definitely stay away from DIY projects in its entirety.
If you don't know why, then take a look at some of these DIY fails below.
#1 Goal: Basketball Hoop
Maybe next time, try using an actual netting hoop instead of a toilet seat. Doesn't look like a hoop most kids will want to play with.
#2 Goal: Buzzlightyear Cake
The face kind of looks more like Mr. Potato Head, don't you think? Maybe it could have been a little better if they added the swirl to the chin.
#3 Goal: Tinkerbell Pancake
I don't necessairly see Tinkerbell when I look at this... More like a really big bird attacking a tree. Does anyone else see this?
#4 Goal: Penny Countertop
Combining pennies together for a countertop is supposed to create a copper-toned mosaic. Unfortunately, this person managed to create a choppy mess instead. Not so stylish.
#5 Goal: Gingham Wall
A gingham wall usually involves perpendicular stripes that creates a nice plaid pattern you may see on many flannel shirts. But it looks like the color blue made the stripes look too solid.
#6 Goal: Functioning Sink
Sometimes you just need to know when to step away from the DIY, and hire someone else to do it. We know it can be difficult to let go. But in situations like this, LET IT GO.
#7 Goal: Pop Art Makeup
What a great Halloween costume! Pop art to make you look like a character straight out of a comic book. However, it looks like this lady missed the mark. Well at least she tried?
#8 Goal: Elevated Table Legs
Table not tall enough for you? No problem, just attach wooden pieces to the end of the table legs to make it taller. Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. Right?
#9 Goal: Cartoon Nails
This nail design looks a little tricky but definitely super cute if executed right. How hard could a black outline around the nails be, right? Well it looks like a lot harder than we think.
#10 Goal: Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes
Cupcakes and ice cream cones? Sounds like a delicious mash-up. Unfortunately, it looks like these two desserts would have been better on their own. Are those dark spots burnt spots?
#11 Goal: Button Bowl
Button bowl? More like button plate. They definitely get an A for effort. I guess this particular project was too advanced.
#12 Goal: Cooled Down Computer
You never want your computer to heat up! Nope, that's bad for the computer. You need to make sure there's a fan present to cool down the machinery. But of course, not this big of a fan...
#13 Goal: Weiner Dog Bun
Good thing there's a before photo here, because otherwise I'd have no idea what shape this bread was supposed to be. It kind of looks like it could be a whale
#14 Goal: DIY Razors
I guess this isn't necessairly a fail. The idea is there, and you can actually use it. However, the end result just looks really really ugly and unappealing.
#15 Goal: Great Gatsby Book
I mean to be honest, the book cover is actually pretty creepy. But the cake is even creepier. Way to go, you managed to make something already scary even scarier.
#16 Goal: Ceiling Fan
This fan doesn't look like it's doing too great. Either the fan blades are too long or the fan is positioned in the wrong area. Maybe a little bit of both?
#17 Goal: Rainbow Fan
A rainbow fan sounds fun and it looks like an inventive DIY. Maybe next time, stay away from the pastel colors? Apparently they don't look as colorful when spun at high speeds.
#18 Goal: Origami Nazgul
The picture above looks like a masterpiece. The picture below, however, looks like it was done by a kindergartner. Seriously did you just crumble up a piece of paper and called it a day?
#19 Goal: Functioning Toilet
Duct tape is never the answer in serious situations like this. I mean seriously, does this look safe to you?
#20 Goal: Appropriately Placed Toilet Paper Dispenser
LOL. Don't know what was going through this person's mind when they decided to place the toilet paper all the way over there. Looks more like a cruel prank to me.
#21 Goal: Mason Jar Herb Garden
Well it looks like they got it down, for the most part. But it seems like their plants are a lot less lively and healthy. Maybe try keeping your plants somewhere they'll still receive sunlight next time?
#22 Goal: Perfectly Positioned Cute Baby Photos
You got the cup right. You got the adorable baby right. Unfortunately not all babies act the way you want them to act.
#23 Goal: Vintage Finish
In order to give an old desk a nice vintage finish, you're supposed to use chalk paint. Looks like you might also need some artistic talent to actually nail that old-world charm.
#24 Goal: Self Tanner
Apparently cocoa powder and lotion combined creates an inexpensive at-home self tanner. But according to a blogger who tried the two-ingredient recipe, the tan is more like a streaky dirty look.
#25 Goal: Kool-Aid Lip Stain
What was originally supposed to be an easy homemade lip tint turned into a disaster. This beauty trick looked like it did the complete opposite.
