#1 Tarbaby

This homeless, squatter-punk mutant has one of the most bizarre and useless powers in the entire comic universe. He basically emits a viscus, tar-like fluid that allows him to stick to pretty much anything, kind of like a human post it note. Sadly, Tar Baby is no longer with us, after being put to death at the Weapon-X concentration camp. He is survived by his young daughter, Scotch Tape.

Vietnam veteran Billy Moon lasted just one issue before getting sent back to the roller disco for some superhero seasoning. And is it really any surprise? Picture the scene.

#3 Vibe

Vibe is a young Puerto Rican breakdancer who possesses the mutant ability to transmit strong vibrational waves. He's brash, has a super thick accent and rocks awesome green shades. He's currently a member of the Justice League of America.

#4 Wasp

Janet van Dyne, is a socialite turned vigilante after the death of her father. Using one of her father's experiments, she gains the power to shrink, grow wings and disseminate "wasp stings" huge fire blasts of energy. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Wasp can grow to massive sizes, gaining superhuman strength and endurance in the process. While these super powers are awesome in their own right, the most impressive aspect of Wasp is her intelligence and ability to lead. She was one of the founding members of the Avengers, was even the one to give them their name, and a long-time leader of the team.

#5 Zeitgeist

Zeitgeist and Big Bertha are probably the only superheroes in existence to boast super-puking as a power. In Zeitgiest's case, however, his up-chuck is capable of burning through a ten inch hunk of steel in less than thirty seconds, making him an awesome friend to bring along to parties.

#6 Sentry

Empowered by an experimental super-soldier formula, high school student Robert Reynolds became a superhuman. After trouncing the school bully who had tormented him, Reynolds sewed together a costume and made his debut as the heroic Sentry.

He's played a huge part in the stories of some of Hollywood's favorite superheroes he helped Hulk learn to control his rage and was best friends with Mr. Fantastic, often teaming up with the Fantastic Four to save the world.

#7 Jack of Hearts

Jack Hart has an interesting origin story: he was born to a scientist father and an extra terrestrial mother, and soon developed "energy abilities" that were far too powerful for him to control. His father developed an inhibitor known as "Zero Fluid," but after he was accidentally doused with the stuff, which theoretically should have killed him, it instead unleashed the full extent of his powers.

#8 Matter Eater Lad

Matter Eater Lad is basically a human garbage disposal. He hails from planet Bismoll, whose inhabitants developed the talent for eating anything and everything after microbes rendered their normal food inedible. As a member of the Legion of Superheroes, he once saved the Earth by eating the "indestructible" Miracle Machine. We're not sure what that is, but it sure sounds delicious.

#9 Nubia

Nubia is an Amazonian warrior from DC Universe who kicks ass with both her hands and intellect. She's immortal, has superhuman strength, stamina and agility. She's also considered to be Wonder Woman's twin and the only one with the power to destroy her.

#10 Superdupont

Superdupont is the son of an unknown soldier buried under The Arc de Triomphe. How he got his powers and what his real name is still unknown, what is known is that he supports economic patriotism, smokes Gauloises cigarettes, drinks red wine, eats french cheese and refuses to be painted with China ink. He battles an evil organization called Anti-France, a terrorist group that wants to destroy France. He is a master of Savate (french form of Boxing) and can fly.

#11 Luke Cage

Luke Cage, a Harlem native, was unjustly imprisoned and altered in a failed prison experiment. This experiment gave him the gifts bulletproof skin and superhuman strength. He fights to keep the streets of New York and the world clean. He was a member of Marvel's New Avengers.

Thomas Kalmaku is the friend and confidant of the Green Lantern. He knows Lantern's secret identity, and keeps a journal detailing all his heroic deeds. When he is finally awarded superpowers, he brings out the best qualities in others. He's also incredibly intelligent, working as an aircraft engineer.

#13 Multiple Man

James Arthur "Jamie" Madrox, aka Multiple Man, is a mutant with the ability to create instant duplicates or "dupes" of himself at will. His powers were apparent at birth after he instinctively duplicated himself after getting slapped by the delivery room doctor. Multiple Man made a brief appearance in X-Men Three.

His superpower was the ability to drive any vehicle. Yep, that's all folks!

#15 Manikin

This guy might just be the most complicated superhero of all time. Whitman Knapp can summon three future and past ‘selves'. The kicker? These genetic relatives are handpicked from varying shifts in the evolution of the human being. There's Proto, a primeval goo (seriously); Ape-Man, a Neanderthal with brute strength; and Highbrow, an intellectual being from the future with the ability to teleport.

#16 Infectious Lass

Infectious Lass is an alien capable of infecting others with a deadly microbe capable of mimicking a variety of human diseases. Her powers are problematic because she often unintentionally infects the heroes she fights alongside of.

#17 Extrano

Extrano was obviously written and drawn by someone who had never met a gay man who wasn't stereotypical and over-the-top feminine, but he is credited as one of the first gay characters in comic book history.. Extrano is perpetually outgoing and friendly, and he refers to himself in the third person. Unfortunately, his name for himself is "Auntie." He has a colorful wardrobe that's heavy on the robes and garish jewelry, and he's often the one that no one takes very seriously.

He has blue skin. That's it! No flying, no super strength or anything like that, just blue skin.

#19 Dr. Strange

Dr. Stephen Strange is a brilliant neurosurgeon whose hands were injured in a car crash rendering him unable to perform surgery. Too proud to take a teaching job, he travels the world searching for a cure, and becomes a disciple of the Ancient One, the Earth's Sorcerer Supreme. After strengthening his sorcery skills, Dr. Strange takes the Ancient One's place as defender of the Earth against all magical and mystical threats. Using artifacts such as the Cloak of Levitation he gains the ability to fly, and he also harnesses energy and uses more traditional magicians' pieces, such as a crystal ball.

Deadgirl is for all intents and purposes a zombie, but an attractive zombie nonetheless, whose superhuman power is the ability to re-animate her own corpse, effectively making her immortal.

#21 Isaiah Bradley

After our beloved Captain America was presumed to be dead, the U.S. Army tested their new Super Soldier serum on Black soldiers during WWII. Isaiah Bradley was the only soldier to withstand the trial and thus became the Black Captain America. With his super strength and agility, he was able to lead American victories against the Germans.

#22 Ebony White

Ebony White was created in the 1940sfrom his appearance to his speech and even his role, he neatly wrapped up just about every racial stereotype of that era that you can think of. White's major role in The Spirit comic books was to be the less-than-intelligent sounding board for the real heroes to collaborate with. Ohand also to chauffeur them around.

Gin Genie can generate seismic waves but is only capable of doing so if her blood-alcohol level is high enough. She's literally only as powerful as she is drunkand she's a mean drunk.

#24 Howard the Duck

Howard the Duck is a cigar chomping super-hero from Duckworld, a planet from another dimension in which intelligent life sprang from waterfowl. In his native world, Howard was a consummate underachiever who could hardly hold down a job, but had far more luck here on Earth, going as far as to run (unsuccessfully) for the President of the United States on the All-Night-Party ticket.

#25 Crimson Avenger

Jill Carlyle, once a practicing attorney, has dedicated her life to seeking vengeance on criminals. Her two pistols never run out of ammunition and never miss. Her bullets can penetrate through some of the strongest superheroes including Superman.

Color Kid can change the colour of anything. Ulu Vakk, from the planet Lupra, became Color Kid when he was struck by a rainbow coloured ray of light from another planet.

#27 Computo

Computo-Danielle Foccaco has a power called "techopathy" which allows her to talk to, command and access crucial information from machines and computers. Oh, and she can fly using her super duper legion flight ring. Beauty, brains and natural hair.

#28 Anarchist, AKA Captain Coconut

The Anarchist, aka Captain Coconut, is a mutant with obsessive compulsive tendencies and a talent for sweating acid, which allows him to expel acidic blasts of energy from his hands. Although currently The Anarchist has embraced his individuality, he grew up despising his race and obsessively washed his hands in hopes it would wash away his skin color. Fortunately, over the course of his character's storyline, he has since come to terms with many of his insecurities.

#29 Brother Power The Geek

Originally, Brother Power was a mannequin who was dressed in bloodied "hip threads" by criminals, then was struck by lightning some months later, giving him life. Yeah, we don't understand it either, but somehow through all of that, he gained several powers, including super speed, extreme pliability, and resistance to pain.

#30 Bumble Bee

Karen Beecher-Duncan was DC's first Black female superhero. Starting her career as a librarian, she studied the sciences and developed her own super suit. Her suit gives her the ability to fly, is bulletproof can receive radio transmissions and give off electric energy. She was a member of the Teen Titans and and a current member of the Doom Patrol.

#31 Big Bertha

By day, she's Ashley Crawforda stunningly beautiful, slender, rich supermodel. Her mutant powers allow her to put on an extra 285 kilograms (630 lb) and turn into Big Bertha. In this form, she has super strength and the ability to withstand injuryeven repelling bullets. While she keeps her honed athletic skills as Big Bertha, she does tend to tire out more quickly. Big Bertha returns to her supermodel form by throwing up all her extra weight.

T'Challa is the first African superhero. As the former King of the Wakanda kingdom and a veteran Avenger, Black Panther has super strength and speed along with many fortunes. He's dedicated his life and abilities to serve all of mankind.

#33 Arm Fall Off Boy

He could pull off his arm and use it as a bludgeoning tool.

Armando Muñoz made a brief appearance in X-Men: First Class. From Latino and African descent, Darwin's body automatically adapts to any environment he's in.

He can teleport another person anywhere they want to go in the world as long as it's only into the next room.

Maggot has two enormous maggot-like creatures that dwell inside of him (named Eenie & Meanie) that eat their way in and out of his flesh in order to consume all manner of things, which in turn both feed him and supply him with super strength.

#37 Shamrock

Her powers were given to her when her father prayed for superpowers for her brother. Lucky sprites possessed her instead, giving her the ability to use their good luck powers.

Vixen, Mari Jiwe McCabe, is an African superhero from DC Comics. She's from the Zambesi tribe. After she came to America, she became a successful supermodel and went on to study psychiatry. She used her beauty and education to travel the world and became the superhero we know as Vixen. She could mimic any animal in the wild. Her power was channeled from the god Anansi. She used her abilities to fight poachers and became a member of the Justice League.

#39 The Red Bee

The Red Bee was a vigilante with a utility belt, a stinger gun and the ability to call upon a swarm of bees just in case he was gripped with the sudden urge to make some honey.

#40 Squirrel Girl

Squirrel Girl is a mutant the with power to control squirrels who fought crime for years alongside her squirrel pal sidekick, Monkey Joe, who sadly met his demise at the hands of Doctor Doom.

#41 Enchantress

Although Enchantress is a sorceress, she basically has very effective powers of seduction. She does have other powers, such as transmutation, illusions, and mind control. However, those powers are most often used to enhance her physical appearance and the effect she has on the men around her.

#42 Dazzler

Dazzler, as far as we know, is the only hero to date with superhuman Disco powers. Well, kind of. Dazzler is basically able to emit "dazzling" light shows, which she used to forge her singing career in New York clubs and discotheques. It's very close to the way Abba started out.

#43 Codpiece

Codpiece only made one appearance in his short-lived career as a superhero. When he showed up in Doom Patrol #70, he was lamenting the size of his manhood. Clearly believing that bigger is better, he attempts to woo woman after woman and is met with the same sort of rejection over and overhe's too small, he's not big enough, and so on.

#44 Leather Boy

Leather Boy wore a studded collar; leather chaps; a leather flat cap; and even had a ball gag in his mouth. Think The Village People on a night off. Although that's probably doing The Village People a disservice. His best claims to fame were murdering Monkey Joe, dressing up as Doctor Doom and getting caught by Big Bertha, who captured our fetishist hero by sitting on him.

#45 The Dogwelder

The Dogwelder is a superhero that welds dogs to criminals faces. We swear to god we're not lying. Yes, the mute and masked dogwelder traps strays in alleyways to keep his supply of dead dogs fresh, and no, he's not a villain, he fights for the forces of good, although Lassie would probably beg to differ.
