I may be 31 years old, but I'm not above having a Disney movie marathon pretty much anytime. My personal favorite is Alice In Wonderland, but there really aren't any I don't enjoy, and there's never a time when I'll turn down the opportunity to watch some quality animation from my childhood. I'm nostalgic to a fault, as I think a lot of us are, and Disney movies are my nostalgia kryptonite. However, I long ago got rid of my old VHS tapes and have never gotten around to buying the DVDs of my favorites because I'm broke, they're expensive, and many of them have been relegated to the vault until they can release another special edition in a few years' time. Thankfully, Netflix has a fantastic selection of Disney movies to choose from that you can indulge in right now!
Admittedly, there are some massive gaps in Netflix's catalog, but given that rights are expensive, I suppose I can forgive the oversight. Plus, there are enough decent Disney flicks on the streaming site to have a marathon with, and several were a pleasant surprise since they're criminally underrated (looking at you, Pete's Dragon). The next time you want to reconnect with your inner child ASAP, hit up Netflix for these awesome Disney movies.
#1 Cinderella
This 1950 classic is one of Disney's masterpieces. The old school hand-drawn animation is top notch, and Gus Gus is one of the cutest animal sidekicks in the company's history. Plus, who doesn't love daydreaming about a fairy godmother to come and grant our every wish?
#2 Aladdin
Aladdin is one of the Disney movies I have the clearest memories of as a child, probably because it's one of the ones I've watched the most. The Genie was one of the funniest characters ever, and I can probably still quote three quarters of this movie.
#3 Up
I don't really need to give much of a reason on this one. If you're feeling sentimental and in need of a good cry, this is the heartwarming movie for you. If, however, you're PMSing and already in a delicate state, you might want to hold off for a few days because you will be a mess. Trust me on this one.
#4 The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Why did no one love Quasimodo as much as I did as a kid? Does that make me weird? If so, I don't care The Hunchback of Notre Dame was totally underrated. Esmeralda was a total queen, too.
#5 Homeward Bound
I'm a sucker for animals, so a live-action movie about animals trying to make their way home is not only heartbreaking, but it's got my attention 100 percent. I was also a huge Milo & Otis fan, but since that's not Disney, it's not on this list (duh).
#6 Toy Story
I love every single Toy Story movie and think the first one is probably in the top five they've ever done. I know technically it's Pixar, but WHATEVER. Toys that come to life and the boy who loved them and made them who they are just destroys my soul and I'm here for it.
#7 Beverly Hills Chihuahua
That's right, more animals! This one is supposed to be super cheesy and ridiculous and it is, but I also remember that it made me cry. I can't believe I'm admitting that, but I can't be the only person that's obsessed with dogs, right?
