When Justin Bieber was first introduced to mainstream audiences, he was coined as a budding singer/songwriter that was just looking for his big break. Like so many other music hopefuls, he uploaded his videos on YouTube and hoped to get scooped up by a music bigwig. A number of prominent individuals sat up and took notice of Bieber, including the likes of Justin Timberlake and Usher.
Bieber was ultimately signed to Raymond Braun Media Group (RBMG) Records, and his debut album went platinum. He became an instant sensation among young girls, from his talented singing and dancing skills to his super cute looks. As he grew out of the teeny-bopper stage, it was inevitable that he would need to tweak his small boy image a bit. While no one expected him to keep the long locks or school boy ensembles well into adulthood, no one could have predicted how drastic his public persona would change.
Nowadays, it seems that he has gone far too deep into the rabbit hole, and it’s almost impossible to think of how he will ever get back into the public’s good graces again. In recent years, his life has been filled with one huge public snafu after the next. The tabloids love to exploit his personal blunders, and Bieber seems to love giving them extra ammunition. While there have been a few times that warranted sympathy for this young music artist, there have equally been times where the public has seemed to have enough of his shenanigans. Check out our list of the 15 times the public has wanted to slap Justin Bieber, and see how his downward spiral has made the world a bit jaded to his plight.
#1 Blonde Dreadlocks
When Justin Bieber was first introduced to mainstream audiences, it was hard to say what was more famous: his voice or his hair. Little girls everywhere swooned over his long brown locks, and the Justin Bieber hairstyle became an entity all its own. When he finally cut it off and went for a more tamed look, his fans started off a bit upset but then quickly adjusted to his new look. Since he was transitioning from his "Baby" style of singing and moving on towards an edgier and more adult "Boyfriend" persona, the haircut seemed fitting for his evolved look and age. However, he couldn't leave well enough alone because he has since changed his hairstyle a number of times. While the platinum dye job was bad enough, it was his dabbling into the dreadlock style that had people gagging the most. He first debuted the dreadlock look on his Instagram page, with the caption, "Why." Yet, he didn't just keep it sequestered to his social media sites, and even donned the hairstyle when performing at the 2016 I Heart Music Awards.
#2 Self-Entitlement At Coachella
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has quickly become the music event of the year, with artists and celebrities alike coming out to see their favorite performers. While it's usually the female celebrities that get the most attention while attending this music festival, Justin Bieber made a few headlines of his own. Allegedly, Bieber had received a personal invitation by Drake to come see him perform, but there was an issue with security to get into the artist's area. Bieber and his entourage were not allowed inside because the area was already at capacity. When faced with the notion of watching the performance with all of the other fans, Bieber protested because he said he would be bombarded due to his celebrity status. Instead of accepting that the area wasn't allowing any more people, Bieber and his entourage got into an altercation with the security personnel and had to be forcibly removed. TMZ released a video showing the security guards putting Bieber in a chokehold as they escorted him out.
#3 Egg Vandalism
In January 2014, Justin Bieber was living at a house in Calabasas, California, and apparently didn't get along too well with his neighbors. Complaints were coming in about the noise, the comings and goings, and the ridiculous driving throughout the neighborhood. Never one to shy away from escalating a situation, Bieber reportedly hurled at least a dozen eggs at his neighbor's property. This vandalism stunt caused around $20,000 worth of damage, since the result caused damage to the plaster and wood exterior. Bieber was charged with misdemeanor vandalism, and pleaded no contest when the case went to court in July 2014. Due to the investigation into this egg vandalism case, cops served a felony search warrant to Bieber's residence and found ecstasy and oxycodone. The court case resulted in Bieber receiving a no-jail deal, and instead was forced to complete an anger management program and a number of hours performing community service.
#4 Too Hurt To Complete Community Service
It may seem like a bit of overkill for Justin Bieber to be charged with misdemeanor vandalism for his egg-throwing stunt involving his neighbor, especially since almost every teenager has memories of egging or toilet papering neighborhood houses at least once in their lives. Yet, the fact that he caused over $20,000 in damage and he is supposed to be a celebrity role model to other young people definitely puts things into perspective. It should seem that he would use his time as a celebrity to do bigger and better things than cause property damage to those that live around him. In fact, many people viewed his 5 days of community service a super light punishment, even if they felt that real jail time would have been too harsh. While others would count their blessings and hurry to get their community service completed, Bieber chose to put it off and then ultimately requested a continuance. He reportedly hurt his ankle during a soccer game, and used that as the excuse as to why he couldn't complete his community service on time.
#5 Low Blows With Orlando Bloom
Hollywood has always had a bit of a revolving door when it comes to the intertwining web of significant others in the celebrity world. So, when Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom called it quits, it seemed that there were two beautiful people back on the market and ready to be swooped up. Both of them were romantically linked to various celebrities, with an ironic twist that each were photographed with Justin Bieber and his ex, Selena Gomez. Neither of these relationships turned into anything serious, but it did cause the public to wonder whether these two power couples swapped partners. To add fuel to the mystery, Bloom and Bieber got into a physical altercation in 2014 in Spain. Orlando Bloom was out to dinner with fellow actor, Leonardo DiCaprio, and supposedly refused to shake Bieber's hand. After Bieber reportedly made a comment about Bloom's ex-wife, Bloom threw a punch. Bieber didn't stick around to get into an all out brawl, but fans didn't like to see him making underhanded comments about a beloved A-lister or a favorite Victoria's Secret model.
#6 Face Tattoo
While celebrities aren't exactly opposed to getting tattoos, typically they don't put anything permanent on their money makers. The face tattoo is generally geared towards gang members and rappers, since it's pretty much common knowledge that a teardrop face tattoo has the meaning that the wearer has killed someone. Justin Bieber has obviously expressed his love of tattoos, since he has over fifty on his body, and even spoke about getting a face tattoo in early 2016. In an interview with GQ magazine, Bieber stated, "I think if they're done right, they could be cool, but nothing super crazy all over the face." He also stated in the interview that he would wait until his 40s or 50s before getting a face tattoo, but it seems he grew a tad impatient. In May 2016, he posted a photo on his Instagram, revealing his brand new face tattoo. While it isn't exactly a teardrop or a huge obtrusive thing, it's big enough to be noticed as just another super obnoxious stunt by Bieber.
#7 Fake Wheelchair At Disneyland
In July 2014, Justin Bieber was spotted at "The Happiest Place On Earth." While it's not unheard of for a celebrity to go to Disneyland, usually the public only hears about it when it's a superstar that closes down the entire park for the day. On this occasion, Bieber went with his small entourage, but didn't forego all the perks of the celebrity world. As if he wasn't going to get enough attention and star treatment, Bieber reportedly borrowed a wheelchair and was seen being pushed around by members of his party. Once pictures were leaked with the star posing in photos with fans in the wheelchair, the public pounced on the artist for supposedly using the wheelchair to skip the lines on a disabled pass. Bieber's team released a statement saying that he was indeed injured, and only spent a few moments in the wheelchair. However, photos are videos continued to be released where he was obviously in the chair far longer than a few moments. There was also footage of Bieber the days prior and after the Disneyland visit where he did not appear injured in the least bit.
#8 Carried At The Great Wall Of China
There are some areas of the world that need to be seen firsthand to be fully appreciated. The Great Wall of China, the only man-made structure that can be seen from space, is a highly sought-after destination for people all over the globe. When Bieber made his trip to see this marvel, it seemed like the strain of using his own two legs was asking too much. Leaked photos show that Bieber used his security personnel to carry him, since reportedly he "didn't feel like" walking on his own. There have been other instances where celebrities were carried, rather than walk, but these usually involved female celebs that were trying to save their suffering feet from their super uncomfortable stilettos. Mariah Carey famously used a motorized cart to get her through the labyrinth of a lobby during her Vegas residency, but fans brushed it off since she was apparently trying to save herself to give the best possible performance onstage. Yet, this wasn't the case for Bieber, since he wasn't about to do any choreographed dance steps on the Great Wall of China, and definitely wasn't in stiletto pumps.
