8 Wild Pieces of Celebrity Fan Mail
Ed Sheeran did the internet a solid recently when he shared a hilarious piece of fan mail:
To Ed Sheeran (My great singer)
I hope you love the shirt
You are little ugly but I love you!
Please wear this shirt and get some 2015 concert tour!
From Lee Juang In (your fan)
Adorable right? Well, except for one line: You are little ugly but I love you!
How… kind? The fan probably didn’t realize she was sending the celeb a backhanded compliment, but like the gracious guy he is, Sheeran didn’t skip a beat. He proudly displayed the letter on Instagram, giving his loving fan more than she ever thought she’d get in return.
But Ed’s not the first celebrity with fans who show their love in… interesting ways. Check it out:
#1 Alice Cooper
Alice Cooper once received an adorable gift from some fans: a tiny little coffin with an even tinier cat heart placed within. He explained on Reddit, "I immediately literally called the police, because I didn't know if it was a gift, a warning or a threat, and I didn't quite know how to take it. I gave the box to the police and said, "I don't know where they got this, but it can't be good."
#2 Zac Efron
A fan of Zac Efron once sent him a piece of human skin. But Zac being Zac, he let it roll off his back. In an interview with Conan O'Brien he said, "It's hilarious because you don't know how to handle it. You'll never get around it. I love all my fans."
#3 Justin Bieber
Like Efron, Justin Bieber's known for having some of the most rabid fans on the planet. In his heyday, he explained why receiving a plastic golf club wasn't actually the best gift he's ever gotten. "I've got a plastic golf club from a fan that was like signed by their whole family," he told Q magazine. "I was like, ‘Why's it signed by your family, are you guys famous or something?'" That Justin, humble as always.
#4 Niall Horan
There's no doubt the One Direction singer has tons of stories from life in the spotlight, but he once opened up about a particularly interesting gift the band received. "The strangest thing somebody once sent us was a live hermit crab. Now that was just weird!"
#5 The Backstreet Boys
Like their modern counterparts in 1D, The Backstreet Boys have had their fair share of weird fan encounters. After sharing a story about a stowaway on their bus tour with MTV, A.J. McLean went on to give an interesting detail. "The [same] German girl that stowed away on the bus she gave us two gold rings that turned out to be her parents' wedding rings!"
#6 Daniel Radcliffe
While chatting with Contact Music, Daniel Radcliffe discussed his own brush with weird fandom. "One Japanese fan sent me a present a plastic ear," he explained. "It was rubbery and you were supposed to fold it up and hold it in your hand, then walk into a party and go, ‘Oh my God, there's something wrong with my ear!' and let it unfold. Everyone thought it was weird then I found out that it's a famous Japanese comedian's best joke!"
#7 Jared Leto
Plastic ears are one thing, but Jared Leto once received a real severed ear from a devoted fan, with a note that said, "Are you listening?" Like anyone else would do after receiving such a loving gift, Leto strung the ear on a chain and wore it around his neck.
#8 Taylor Swift
A Taylor Swift fan painted an actual turtle shell with the singer's face emblazoned right on it.
#9 Jonas Brothers
But turtles are child's play for the Jonas Brothers the guys told Digital Spy they were once gifted a preserved dead shark.
