#1 Love At First Sight

Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog first met in 1976 during "The Muppet Show's" pilot episode.

While being crowned during a beauty pageant, Miss Piggy saw Kermit in the audience and was immediately smitten. The attraction was mutual; Miss Piggy also caught Kermit's eye.

#2 The First Wedding Attempt

Not long after first meeting, the two began to date. And since that moment Miss Piggy only cared about two things: her celebrity and Kermit.

Miss Piggy wanted to seal the deal with Kermit, but he was having some reservations about getting married.

In 1978, Miss Piggy was able to trick Kermit by telling him that the wedding she was planning was for a sketch, but secretly she had hired a real minister to officiate. Somehow, Kermit was able to avoid saying "I do." Miss Piggy was very upset, to say the least.

#3 The Long Engagement

In 1979, Miss Piggy, much to Kermit's surprise, announced their engagement during Kermit's brief stint hosting "The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson." Miss Piggy, once again, stole the spotlight.

#4 Wedding Attempt Number Two

In 1984, Miss Piggy and Kermit got married during the movie "The Muppets Take Manhattan," with the rest of the Sesame Street crew in attendance. However, unknown to Miss Piggy, the minister officiating the wedding had been defrocked right before the ceremony.

Despite neither of their marriages being legitimate, Miss Piggy carried around a marriage license with her, just in case.

#5 Kermit On The Ellen Show

In 2011, Kermit professed his love for Miss Piggy on The Ellen Show, but said that their relationship had to be judged "hour-by-hour."

Kermit's "hour-by-hour" comment was a subtle way of saying that their relationship at that point was very unstable. Miss Piggy was living in Paris and working as a fashion editor for Vogue, while Kermit was still in Los Angeles.

However, the pair reconciled by the time they began filming "The Muppets" movie in 2011.

#6 Giving It Another Chance

In 2014, Miss Piggy gave an interview to People Magazine where she revealed their wedding plans. Miss Piggy also said in the interview that Kermit, her future husband, was still in shock the last time she saw him over the wedding news.

#7 The Split

In a truly sad turn of events and after decades of dating on and off again, Miss Piggy and Kermit broke up in August 2015.

Miss Piggy and Kermit released official statements after the news of their split broke.

Kermit's statement read: "After careful thought, thoughtful consideration and considerable squabbling, Miss Piggy and I made the difficult decision to terminate our romantic relationship. We will continue to work together on television ("The Muppets"/Tuesdays 8pm this fall on ABC) and in all media now known or hereafter devised, in perpetuity, throughout the universe. However, our personal lives are now distinct and separate, and we will be seeing other people, pigs, frogs, et al. This is our only comment on this private matter. Thank you for your understanding."

#8 The Side Chick

Not long after the break up, Kermit began dating Denise, who many critics say is just a younger, thinner, and less charismatic version of Miss Piggy.

"Let's make one thing perfectly clear: after the release of pictures of Kermit the Frog's new girlfriend, Denise, it's clear who was the real pig on the Muppets," wrote Megan Carpentier in The Guardian.

#9 The Jimmy Kimmel Interview

Recently, Kermit and Miss Piggy went on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote their new show The Muppets. The interview between the two ex-love birds got awkward to say the least.

#10 On Kimmel

Miss Piggy said she wasn't surprised that the breakup was covered by the media so much, because "I'm like Donald Trump. Everything I do is HUGE!"

Kermit explained that his new girlfriend was a private person and not a celebrity like Miss Piggy.
