Sometimes it's not the number of bodies a serial killer piles up, but the disturbing and unsettling details of exactly what they did with the remains.
Allow me to introduce you to Ed Gein, a momma's boy who was clearly not comfortable in his own skin.
#2
Gein seemed to have psychological problems from a young age, but he never hurt anyone until after his mother died in 1945.
#3
Gein killed two people during his lifetime and robbed from numerous graves. The corpses and living women he targeted were always middle-aged and resembled his mother.
#4
Gein said his mind was in a haze when he would head toward the graveyard to collect body parts. Sometimes he would snap out of his haze and head back to his farm empty-handed.
#5
Gein would craft suits out of his victims' skin to feel more womanly. He actually wanted a sex change, but this is what he came up with instead
#6
Gein turned the dead women into arts and crafts projects. He made eating utensils out of their bones, stretched their skin into lampshades, turned skulls into candles, and more.

Although it's unclear how many suits Gein fashioned, he confessed to wearing them frequently, and admitted to robbing a total of nine graves.
In 1957, Gein was arrested for murdering an employee of a local hardware store. But upon inspection of his house of horrors, police discovered a host of bizarre, distressing and fucked up creations.

Despite allegations, Gein stated that he had never had sex with any of these dead bodies, because they ‘smelled too bad'. Well, of course, because that would be crazy.

Gein was sparred jail due to insanity, and end up spending the rest of his life in a psychiatric facility. He died from heart failure in 1984.
