Academy Members Having Second Thoughts About Banning Weinstein Too Quickly

It seems like expelling Harvey Weinstein was not a wise step taken by Hollywood's Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. After much applause that the big organization had received for banning Weinstein, the AMPAS is now facing another obstacle and a much bigger question has raised: What to do with other Weinsteins in the industry?

Recently, a number of women had come forward to accuse Weinstein of sexual misconduct causing the academy to ban the Hollywood producer's membership. But it turned out that many big Hollywood names have been accused of sexual harassment in the past.

“Harvey opened the floodgates,” said one male Academy member. “Now the Academy’s drowning in a tide of s—t. They don’t know what hit them.”

Batman star Ben Affleck had been seen on a video groping a female host on a show. Similarly, two women had made allegations against his brother Casey Affleck for misconduct. Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman has also been accused of inappropriate sexual behavior by five women. Kevin Spacey who is an Academy Award winner has been blamed for assaulting young men.

Famous screenwriter James Toback has been accused of sexual harassment by over 200 women! and director Brett Ratner (known for his successful projects like Rush Hour) has been accused of harassment and rape in the past.

After all the revelations, Academy CEO Dawn Hudson has been receiving a barrage of petitions and letters asking for the Hollywood Academy to take action against all the big stars.

"We can’t regret (kicking out Harvey) because (we) didn’t really have a choice,” a member of AMPAS’ board of governors said.
