In an interview with Dr Phil, Maddie opens up about her struggles with her adoptive parents. Maddie, now 18 heartbreakingly claims her adoptive parents have used her illness against her blaming her for the family's dysfunction.

#3 The Girl Needs Love

The young girl also revealed that her parents have also kicked her out of the house multiple times, just because she didn't fulfil their expectations of a perfect child. Maddie says she feels unloved and is also convinced her parents regret their decision, they consider her a mistake.

Beth says, "Madie can be explosive, vile and physical," claiming her daughter has pushed her down, pulled her arm, and punched her in the back. While Jim says "Madie is like a hurricane. She leads a path of destruction."

#4 She Doesn't Fit In

Maddie's father Jim also admitted that at times he also wonder what it would be like to have his own children. "She doesn’t fit in. There are times when I’ve wondered what it would be like to have my own children."

Maddie says she understands the importance of mental health and knows that she can be impulsive and volatile at times.
